That's a great story. I don't think that we need to worry about Del running a competitive nitro car. He was born to be a crew chief, and I have a feeling that he is going to surprise a lot of people this season.

Sounds like they were having a lot of tire shake on the early test runs. The first one without tire shake was a 4.13 (not sure of the speed).

Her last testing run was the best.....4.09 @311

I am really excited about 2012 for Team Kalitta. Worsham and Arend are very good friends, and we all know that Del has worked with some great people over at Al Anabi, and they share data with Kalitta, and have for a while. I wish Del the very best. With all the hubub about the T.P. Toyota, I'm actually even more excited to see how the DHL car progresses early-on this season. And just like when Conrad and Scott used to line up side by side in thier top fuelers, it was always a war on the starting line.... and I expect no different between the 2 funny cars. Alexis and Jeff are each going out there to win the championship - that I can guarantee you!

I remember seeing an interview of Del after he'd been driving for AJ for about a year or so. He mentioned in that interview that he was seeing team management taken to a whole new level for him. He said he was seeing details of running a team that he'd never thought of when he was running his own CSK racing team. I'm pretty certain he's taken those lessons to heart and will apply this knowledge to his own operation.

I'm betting that team is going to be mighty dangerous when they get everything sorted out.

I'm with you also. You know Connie wants the DHL car humming to memorialize Scott and he looked more energized last year when they appeared to turn the corner. Only wish the best for everyone in that camp - all class acts!
