IMO working for a business man like Darryl if you do not produce at his level you are gone. I worked for a man who built up a 150 million a year business, he expected everyone to perform 24/7/365 like him. Unfortunately the employees are gong to try for a while then owner wants more then it usually ending bad for them.
I made it 5 years only because I was employed by the company but was working on his "personal fun" projects. It was not unusual for him to call at 2am because he thought of something.
The other thing he did to managers, dangle the carrot, keep them chasing it but not quite getting it, then fire them and bring in a new sucker. I watched this happen over and over for the 5 years I was there, I actually worked for him about 7 years, 2 of which were on his personal residence, that was how we met.
He did with every aspect of his life.
