With both Friday and Saturday evening qualifying sessions, (and perhaps round one Sunday if the fuel cars get through their runs without any major delays), will this finally be the year someone breaks the 200 mph barrier in Pro Stock? Allen Johnson holds both ends of the track records, 6.916 in 2012 and 199.23 last year. I want to say yes, but I just don't know if there have been enough horsepower gains to get another .8 mph at this altitude. For reference, I think the track record was 198.9x in 2012, so they only gained about .3 mph over the last two years. Bandimere does have the starting line cooling system which keeps the first 305 feet about 20 degrees cooler than the rest of the track so that should allow the cars to be a little more aggressive off the line, but I'm not sure it will be enough. What do you think?
