HOUSTON, Sunday: The 0 percent chance of rain forecasted for today turned into 100 percent, which in turn delayed the start of the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals three hours. And once the racing action began, the weather cooperated. But even though the day started late, Tim Wilkerson's day was short, with Wilkerson going out in the first-round of action.
Wilkerson faced off against Jim Head, but there was no competition, as the Levi, Ray & Shoup Monte Carlo smoked the tires at the hit. Head sailed past Wilkerson posting a 4.899, as Wilkerson coasted down the track.
"We just over-powered the starting line," explained Wilkerson. "I really don't believe we did that, because we weren't trying to do that. It was the furthest thing from our mind. It was making more power than we thought, obviously. But it was a good weekend in the way of carnage. Nothing got hurt or wounded, just our pride."
