First . . . a huge thank you to Jeff Wolf for introducing Erin and me to Terry Chandler so we could thank her for all she does for children and veterans. We're going to be able to watch the team interact with Make A Wish kids tomorrow. Next, thanks to Bobby Lagana for credentials and DSR for hospitality!
Now . . . racing good, facility bad. Track was in great shape and we saw some excellent times. However, the main hospitality tower, main track concession stand, drive through ticket booths and some restrooms were condemned and closed by tribal health department. If I had paid for a suite in that tower I'd be really irritated! So, instead of promised improvements, the facility is getting worse, not better.
Finally, exiting main parking was the worst ever, luckily I left early. Out through casino property to a back road. I got stuck in the right lane and was directed by tribal PD to turn right - into the parking lot of the tribe's outlet mall! If NHRA wants people to return to this event, they should get their heads out of the sand and see how bad spectator experience really is.

Jim; I also was not happy or impressed with traffic control exiting the place. Way way over kill for the amount of cars.

Hi Jim! Hope you are doing well. Are those building still closed? It's hard to believe a national event facility would be run down like that!

Yesterday it took me 30 minutes to get in the track once I got off the 10! The Casino sure F'd up the traffic flow there!

Firebird/Wild Horse has been a dumpster fire for a while now. They need to dump quite a bit of money into the grounds there but likely won't.

I think they routed the traffic that way so the parking lot(s) would empty faster, rather than sending them directly up to I-10 from Maricopa Rd. Granted, all that traffic sat in line and moved slowly, but they got a lot of cars off the property pretty quickly.

I know there are people up there who care about the facility; but, they may not be the one's holding the checkbook.
