I was socked when the 8/9 pair in Top Fuel didn't come out until the end.

I sat their wondering why then Frey started to mention something about it but the burnouts covered what he said. Does anyone know why?

No 1 gets to pick position first, and so on down the line. If I were to guess, no one likes to be last due to shortest turn around time, and with the weather, that could have been shortened more.

socked, shocked something like that :D

I know about the order but it seems that with 8/9 being the last to pick they always go first and have to show everyone what the track will hold. 8/9 is generally the guniea pigs for everyone else. I was surprised to not see them come first.

Like I said Frey even mentioned something about it but I couldn't hear him

What that means is that when Hillary Will's team as #7 qualifier was given the choice to choose, they had to choose between last pair and first pair, and so for whatever their strategic reason, chose to be first pair rather than last pair.
