AS I sit here tonight after watching the LV race I am wondering how many fans out there understand just how close AA/Fuel Racing is right now? PLease do not bring into this discussion about your love/hate of 1320 vs 1000ft, the countdown or other various opinions you have about our sport today. Todays race was one of the most entertaining in a long time! Full of upsets, exciting passes and races and many photo finishes. Do you realize that there are about 1/2 dozen AA/FD and the same number in AA/FC all racing and qualifing within .05 .06 seconds. Thats not even how long it takes to push the key on your keyboard. More and more emphamis is being given to staging your car. A large number of slightly lower et's won races today. There are some very talented drivers out ther today and the top half of these 2 brackets look like a PS qualifying sheet. I really am looking forward in 2 weeks time where at least 3-4 teams in each class has a chance to be a champion!

Oh and by the way the way - how about Brittany dropping that .34 on Salinas? Was she UP on the Wheel? Averaged .84 on 3 previous rounds! Great job!

Sounds like Daddy's been teaching her the joys of deep staging....:)
That girl was absolutely thrilled to death; as excited as I've ever seen her. And why wouldn't she be. She went from 70-something points down to the points leader in one race. If she can keep her lights in the .060 or less range in Pomona she'll likely win Championship #2.

Felt sorry for: Angelle Sampey, who redlit (by a bunch) a shot at the Championship;
Felt sorry for: Aaron Stanfield, whose only chance against Enders was dashed by a holeshot;
Felt sorry for: Alexis DeJoria who came within a hundredth of taking out Hight in E2;
Felt sorry for: Tony Stewart who lost his rookie final round in the closest race of the season - one inch - although it was nice to see that girl get Win #1;
Felt sorry for: Leah Pruitt, driving a car with a crew that just can't seem to get it lined out - and destroys a lot of expensive parts trying. And she still struggles with RT's.

LV 2. overall, was a really good race. I would have loved to have been there.

Felt sorry for Doug Kallita whose team is still way off on giving him a car that can win. AJ running the car all year and still isn't there yet. There's obviously a problem there somewhere and it isn't Doug. Car ran better last year.

Anxious to see of aj will be around kalitta next year. Hope so,i think he will get it figured out

Yeah Doug can’t catch a break. Even a top top tuner couldn’t get him close. On the positive side, Brittany saved her season with that light, even if it was deep staged. Regardless of what happens, they control their destiny. Personally, I think it’d be great if all the fastest cars won the championship despite having the best fields ever. Brit, Robert, Erica. That would be karma.

Bob I've been thinking that since June that it may be the pipe.
Also, AJ has been to so many teams his knowledge has rubbed off giving other teams a boost.
Remember when Dale Armstrong started to struggle with his tune-up's?

60' Times tell the tale on any kind of deep staging.
R1- .834
R2- .843
R3- .838
Final- .842 which is pretty consistent with the rest of the day. Nothing sticks out to me that she did anything different than the previous rounds, other than pound out a great light in the final.

can't imagine what justin ashley team thought when they looked at eliminations ladder. ...... surprised to see hight lose traction and make sudden move out of groove
in final. hagan FC with clutch performance. ...... pomona is gonna' be great.

Great Stat, Thanks! I really don't remember looking if she deep staged or not. Correct me please if wrong - if you deep stage your ET falls off a little? You get to the finish first, she had a holeshot on him to begin with. It was funny when Grubnic said "I want to know where that.68 went" after running a .71 in the semi's. Whats that an eyelash on the tune-up dial? Lol!

I enjoy the reaction time / starting line game. I am fascinated with those drivers that are able to hit the tree consistently well. Pro Stock is so intense, but as mentioned the closeness of the fuel fields has led to some Pro-Stock like lights from these drivers. Ashley is so often in the 30's on the tree that it is scary. EE's ability to step up and nail a light when everyone knows it matters is clutch. The management of nerves is amazing.

Brittany doesn't always cut down the tree, but she has at least admitted it is a struggle and you know she is attempting to work on it. She hit Salinas with .033 in the Sonoma final and the .034 in Las Vegas. Sampey is all in her head right now, the starting line is her Achilles heel. It's frustrating to see a champion like herself struggle. However as we age, the things that used to be second nature stress us a little more. Alexis, such a great person, just doesn't seem to have the killer instinct. I'd like to see her at least deep stage once in a while to try something. Her car is capable of winning.

I'm surprised the officials didn't penalize Brittany for crossing the centerline before the 1320 on the round 1 bye. They dinged Alexis 15 points for tire tracks that were on the edge of the line Saturday, but not Brittany for what looks like over the line to me.......

EDIT: After looking at a satellite shot of LVMS I see the 1320 is is before she crossed. As Gilda Radner would say, "Nevermind!"

Alan mentioned that Brittany crossed "after the 1320" and Alexis crossed between the 1000 and 1320 ft mark.

As good as Clay and his team have been running, I knew that it was a trap race for Ashley.

My opinion is simple; all fuel teams have spec engines, blowers, clutches and tires. They all have the ability to put the car together the same way and crew chiefs all have the same data to look at, essentially. From there it comes down to life cycle of parts and the ever so important 'chassis', which may or may not be as good as MLR, DSR or Force built chassis. Those Kalitta chassis may be maxxed out at mid-low .70s, which sucks. I don't think AJ is lost, just that in a few years the field has caught up to their tune-up

?? are you saying it was set up? or are you saying that as clay struggled thru qualifying, after running so well lately, that any first round opponent of clays
would potentially have their hands full having to run an extremely fast car?
