some forecast ... when the weekend started, they were talking about 4+ days of sunny nice weather. Forecasts are worthless, even short range.

Actually they boasted..."Perfect racing weather all weekend". After 27 years (to date) in broadcasting I know NOT to guarantee weather based on a long range forecast.
