I was expecting a Temper Tantrum from what I read here, alls I saw was a driver mad because he got beat and threw a Waterbottle from his own Cooler! No wonder everyone hated Whit Bazemore!

From what I saw it looked like he was pissed and just threw a water bottle to blow off some steam. It was a smarter move then to deck someone that might have been too close. I think he did the right thing and there is no reason to fine him for showing a little passion.

Why would they? Johnny Gray was speaking his mind and I (And I assume a lot of other people) agree with him. To fine him for saying that would just be stupid.

What exactly should he be fined or supended for? Because the team made a mistake and he was upset about losing a race that he had a very good chance of winning?

I assume you were trying to make a point that you haven't agreed with past nhra fines that you thought were silly so why not one here. Regardless, can't start one like this without coming back

I don't think that bottle was empty. He had just gotten it out of the ice chest and it sure didn't fly like an empty bottle. That was one hell of a throw. I was kinda impressed at how far he threw it.

I was impressed, too. Had it been a baseball show (yawn) he'd have been rewarded for that toss.

It's been said before but for NHRA drag racing to continue to get viewers, it's going to need a little more drama. I'm all for good sportsmanship but that's not going to help dragracing's fan base. Allen's anger was exactly what was needed. It made for great tv.
At first I thought he was upset with Nobile. Looked like he was yelling at him. Not sure what that was about. They didn't elaborate.

If push comes to shove, Allen could become an NFL quarterback or a Major League ballplayer with that arm. It was in the heat of the moment and it was aimed high and away and no one was in the way. We all have those moments.

PJ, I tried to make it clear back in post number four that I do not agree with NHRA's policy of fineing competitors. NHRA always claims they're trying to keep the cost down for the racers, yet they fine them most every chance they get.
1) it doesn't hurt the well-funded teams.
2) it puts undue hardship on the low funded teams.

My suggestion is, if you feel the need to punish, then suspend them from a race, or two or five depending on the violation.

Don't misunderstand, I'm a fan of Alan Johnson, and his father. But that childlike behavior in the shutdown area was totally uncalled for. He may have got a lot of TV time, but he lost a lot of respect.

I guess it all comes down to what you're looking for in our sport, if you want WWE on wheels, well you got what you wish for this week. Maybe next week we can have the runner up, get out of his car and threw his helmet at the Winning driver ...... just a thought.

From what I gathered, he felt that his crew didn't put him in the right tracks on the starting line. So he was very upset that he lost, because he clearly had the best car that weekend.

What did Allen get so mad about ....

I happened to be watching ESPN3 when this happened and this is what I surmised. There were a couple of bad spots in the lane that they were trying to position the car around as Allen backed up from the burnout. Unfortunately, the "right, right, right" instructions on the radio ended up taking half of the car out of the clean part of the track and into the rubber mess the car leaves making a burnout .... so they move him over to the right spot in the track, but the damage is done, the hot tires have rubble glued all over them. He launches and the car doesn't stick because the tires aren't clean. He fumes for about 3/4 of a mile until he gets out of the car and needs to blow of some steam by launching a water bottle.
