What In The World?

You can't buy duplicates of somebody else wally. It says crew chief Alan Johnson on it, so maybe its his?

Brings back memorys.

I think it's just stating that Alan was the crew chief.

I'd be interested to know if copies are made for the championship gold Wally's like they do the regular National Event win ones.

I'd bet you can walk into any trophy company and if you have enough money and the specifications you can walk out with an "almost" copy of any trophy. Probably can't be exact but I'll bet it will pass as darn close. I'm sure you could order one from a foreign manufacture that would pass as an exact copy.

Anyone on the team can buy a Wally when they win. Bob Wilber spoke of it in his blog.

Yes I know anyone who has been on the crew who won the event can get one copied, I have several, including an NHRA World Championship Wally from 1972.

The exception would be the world championship wally That is reserved for the winner and next or kin as in my case.

Tony has donated a few to service men and they're familys' that would be my best guess as to who is selling this one.

BTW I know the trophy is just stating AJ as crew cheif, That was meant to be tounge in cheek humor, but if I have to explain it, Oh well my bad.

The guy selling it is pretty insistent that this one is Schumacher's actual trophy, that was given to the seller's brother, whoever that is. The brother should have offered it back to Schumacher first, in my opinion.

I wonder if Tony knows about this.........

+1 on offering it back

As far as national event Wally's you can buy as many as you want. The championship Wally's are a max of 3 that can be ordered. One for the team owner, one for the driver and one for the major sponsor. This one must of been given to someone from the Army. Doubt Tony would give his personal one away.

I have a NHRA champion TF trophy from 2000, Scelzi gave one to each crewmember.

There are a huge amount of impressive LOOKING Wallys offered on ebay. The amount of BS and mumbo jumbo in the descriptions, the vague attributions is just endless.
