a very big welcome to fred simmonds. not only huge for gm racing, but for us pontiac people also. he personally looked through thousands of microphish films and documents to help document the 63 tempest sd coupes, wagons and swiss cheese catalinas for pete mcarthys book. that info has helped my with my sd tempest a/fx clone. thanks you fred and welcome to the mater.
Fred Simmonds also committed the Pontiac display (GTO-R, Solstice, WJ GTO and Daytona Prototype cars) to the Craig Hospital car show in Denver. What a draw it created. Really neat to see the manufacturer support in that way. Thanks Mr Simmonds
I've had the good fortune to have met Mr. Simmonds a couple of time. While I am not much of a Pontiac guy, Mr. Simmonds is truly a class act and we're very fortunate that he participates in our sport. We need more men like him working at the manufacturers!
I know how much you love pontiacs. You need to check out Adma Strang's new 68 Firebird that runs in E/S (unfortunately they are not running stock at maple grove this year-you'll have to wait until E-Twon next year, unless you decide to go to the Dutch in Oct). It is even more beautiful than the GTO that he still has. Here is a link to the picture of the GTO.
