Pontiac and GMC - The Official Vehicles of Heartland Park Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. - Pontiac and GMC are proud to announce their role as the official vehicles of Heartland Park Topeka. The multi-purpose racing facility located five miles south of downtown Topeka is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2008 and will join Bristol Dragway, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Houston Raceway Park and Virginia Motorsports Park as venues where Pontiac and GMC are the official vehicles. Pontiac and GMC also serve as the official car and truck of the NHRA and are the official vehicles at all NHRA-owned facilities including Gainesville Raceway, Atlanta Dragway, O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis and Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

"Heartland Park Topeka is one of this country's premier racing facilities," said Fred Simmonds, GM drag racing marketing manager. "Track officials and the management have done a wonderful job in making improvements to the facility that will continue to benefit race fans and competitors for years to come. Pontiac and GMC are proud to serve as the official vehicles of Heartland Park Topeka."

Heartland Park Topeka opened in 1988 and was the first major motorsports facility to be built in North America since 1968. In 2003, Raymond Irwin purchased HPT and immediately went to work on major structural improvements including the remodeling of tower suites, upgrading of the drainage system and new asphalt laid on major pedestrian areas. The road course has been resealed and reconfigured so that the main straightaway and drag strip no longer share asphalt. This year, Heartland Park Topeka will host the 20th annual O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals on May 29 - June 1, and the SCCA National Championship Runoffs on Oct. 6 - 12, in addition to a continuous, full schedule of motorsports activities including drag racing, road racing, dirt track and special events between April and November.

"We are honored to have Pontiac and GMC as the official vehicles of Heartland Park Topeka," said Raymond Irwin, owner of Heartland Park Topeka. "Pontiac and GMC sponsor some great racing venues and we are proud to be considered one of them."
