Wallace to carry JEGS.com banner back to Eldora

DELAWARE, Ohio (May 28) -- NASCAR superstar Kenny Wallace will represent JEGS.com for the second straight year at the annual Old Spice Prelude to the Dream, which takes place June 4 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Winner of the inaugural charity event in 2005, Wallace is hoping to reclaim past glory at this year's event when he'll compete against some of the best race car drivers in the world.

"Man, I'm so excited I can hardly stand it," Wallace said. "This is the one event everyone talks about all year long and it's going to be the biggest and best one yet in 2008."

Wallace and the rest of the star-studded field will pilot 800-horsepower Late Model Stock Cars around the famed dirt oval, where legends like A.J. Foyt and Mario Andretti learned to drive. Wallace's 2,300-pound racer will be easy to spot in the familiar yellow-and-black of JEGS.com, the high-performance mail-order parts giant.

"I'm proud of my association with JEGS," Wallace said. "People see it on all my shirts when I'm on TV but the best thing I do for JEGS is probably this race. You know why? Because we raise money for terminally ill children at this deal and that touches my heart. I know it means a lot to the Coughlin brothers also and everyone at JEGS.

"It's hard to describe what it's like to get 25,000 screaming fans into a little dirt track in the middle of nowhere but it's a heckuva deal. I remember the first year we weren't sure what to expect and the support just blew us all away. Somehow, it gets bigger each year and this time through we're after $1 million for the Victory Junction Gang."

Fans unable to attend the event in person can tune in to HBO via pay-per-view with all proceeds going to the Victory Junction Gang Camp II in Kansas City, as well as the Tony Stewart Foundation. Stewart owns the track and serves as the host of the event.

Drivers scheduled to compete at this year's Old Spice Prelude to the Dream include Stewart, Wallace, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Bobby Labonte, Mark Martin, Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Bill Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Robby Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Dave Blaney, Clint Bowyer, David Reutimann, Kenny Schrader, J.J. Yeley, Red Farmer, Aric Almirola, and Ray Evernham. Additionally, NHRA stars Ron Capps and Cruz Pedregon will join the fun as representatives of drag racing.

"I'll tell you what's crazy is how serious it gets when the racing starts," Wallace said. "It's old school man, like when NASCAR used to race on dirt. We should have a dirt race every year in our Cup cars. The fans would love it.

"I hope everyone gets a chance to come out and cheer for this JEGS.com team. If they can't come, then get the pay-per-view; you won't be disappointed."
