VP Racing Fuels has agreed to enter into a multi-year agreement with the International Hot Rod Association to serve as the Official Race Fuel of the sanctioning body. In addition VP will be the presenting sponsor of IHRA’s seven-event Sportsman Nationals schedule in 2009. The “Official Race Fuel” agreement extends through the 2011 season.
The deal will be signed in the media center at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando Friday, Dec. 12 at 11:30.
VP will be the exclusive on-site supplier of racing fuels at all IHRA Nitro Jam national events as well as all IHRA Sportsman Nationals. VP’s Nitro Race Nitromethane will be designated for use in the Top Fuel class and C23 the designated spec fuel for Pro Stock. In addition, C23 and VP’s M1 Methanol will also be the spec fuels for IHRA’s Pro Modified class.
It is a match IHRA president Aaron Polburn is excited about.
“VP Racing Fuels has been one of the most active and trusted sponsors in drag racing for a very long time,” Polburn said. “And their product is the best in the business, without question. VP Racing Fuels is pleased they were able to put a deal in place with IHRA.

We’ve wanted to work with IHRA for 20 years and when the opportunity finally arose, we grabbed it,” VP Racing Fuels Eastern Regional Manager Jim Kelly said. “Historically IHRA racing has featured some of the tightest competition among a great group of racers at venues like Rockingham Dragway, Maryland International Raceway and many other great tracks. VP closed out the 2008 drag racing season by fueling both the IHRA and NHRA Pro Stock World Champions, something no other fuel company has ever been able to say. And at least through 2011 that will remain the case.”
But the VP-IHRA partnership is about more than Pro Stock.
“Pro Modified, Top Fuel, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and all the other classes in IHRA competition will now have trackside access to our product line while members of VP’s research and development group will be at every IHRA national event and every IHRA sportsman national event,” Kelly said. “They will be there to answer questions or provide tuning tips to anyone who wants them.
