Vegas going four wide!

That's just great. Why not build a 16 wide track so the race would be over in one round? That would make the event even quicker than the Kentucky Derby!

wait....here's the future.....

- 4 lane track
- 12 car field
- round 1: 4 pairs of 3 wide, take top 2 out of 3 into round 2
- round 2: 2 pair of 4 wide, take top 2 out of 4 into final
- round 3: 4 wide for the trophy

I don't understand why so many people think 4-wide is great, you miss out on a full round of racing on Sunday!

As a hardcore fan I would agree, but with my girlfriend at the track on Sunday two rounds was enough, three was pushing it and we were on our way home before the final. The sun makes it a long day out. For more casual fans, a 3-4 hour total experience is a plus. They get to see all their favourites and see the winner decided in a quicker fashion.

Another race I'll never attend again. Shame because I always enjoyed it. I was able to combine 2 favorites...gambling and drag racing. Now I'll do Vegas around that time but not the track.

I went once to the 4 wide in Charlotte and didn't like it. Too much going on at once, especially in eliminations. If you can't immediately figure out if your guy is advancing, that is too long! However, since I live in California, I'll continue to go to Vegas I. I didn't hate it, just prefer 2 wide.

would be apprehensive about b. smith having any more involvement with the nhra.....a wide variety of national event
track owners IMO is healthy for the nhra.....each can development their event/s as they best know how for the profit they
are comfortable with. if anything, maybe nhra should sell off a track or two it owns; atlanta for example.
b. smith buying the nhra would give him control of 8 facilities and 10 races.....no thank you.

4 wide is for the casual fan. and as Luke said , for the folks who don't want to spend the day at the track. i've attended several races with my cousin and one of his friends. and they always leave before the final. they've had enough. Me i'm the opposite. i cant get enough. and 4 wide is not drag racing. its entertainment.
