Underdahl takes the Stubbs 59 Powersports Texas Pride Suzuki to No. 9 in Houston (1 Viewer)

BAYTOWN, Texas (April 30, 2011) - Wearing the banner of local Houston motorcycle retailer Stubbs 59 Powersports, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Jim Underdahl snagged the No. 9 spot in the PSM ladder of this weekend's 24th annual O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas.

His best quarter-mile time of his four qualifying attempts was a 6.939-second run at 193.10 mph in his very first lap, earning him the No. 9 spot in the ladder and pairing him with Eddie Krawiec in the first round of eliminations Sunday afternoon.

"This really is a great track, always consistent for us, and we were pleased to run the '93 in our first lap off the trailer because it gave us a chance to work on getting good data with different setups from the rest of our runs," Underdahl said.

"Once we made it into the show, we knew we had a chance to experiment with our setup, so Ben (Kriegsfeld) and dad (Greg Underdahl, crew chiefs) took advantage of the situation to get us ready for Sunday.

"Of course, we'd loved to have moved up the ladder a bit, but we are all confident that we've got a great bike and a great setup. We're ready to put on a good show for the Stubbs 59 Powersports guys as well as our Suzuki Extended Protection sponsors come tomorrow morning.

"Texans are so much fun to be around, because their state pride just infects everything they do and say. It makes you proud to be here and to be an American, really. It's hard to explain, but everyone is so friendly, I just love coming here.

"Tomorrow we're going to come out guns a-blazin' and ready to put on a great show and go rounds. Watch out Texas, here we come," Underdahl said.
