Troxel's Wild Ride...

WOW

Michael or anyone; today is my 1st to watch the ESPN video. 2 questions: is the video slightly behind the NHRA audiocast?

ESPN didn't show any of Mels incident; any idea why?

Could over-hear her in the back-round; talk about PO'D!!!

It is a few seconds delay behind the Audiocast Wayne. ESPN showed it several times, the first viewing was during the Line v Humphrey match up. Justin and I were skyping each other going "You seeing this ****? What the hell" Well that woke me up real good. It is in the AM here. :D

I saw it a couple times on the ESPN3 coverage...scary stuff...I think the reason they don't have guard rails down there is because they still use that area as parking for the Fairgrounds

and I think it is a bit delayed from live...I don't know if that is on purpose or just a function of the connections

Normally internet is delayed a few seconds due to the time it takes to compress the signal and also to make a small buffer to prevent choppy video/audio.

How does it re-fire? Did somebody forget to ground the mags?
Edit - nevermind, I see it happened as she was pulling off of the track surface.

Thank goodness there wasn't anyone standing on the other side of that fence.

I immediately was reminded of that incident a few years ago myself.

Really happy no one was hurt. Cars and trailers can be repaired or replaced. that's a bit tougher with people.

X2 on that, it is a miracle no one was hit.

You could see the whole season culminate in that one moment and how Melanie reacted to it. She was at her wits-end and emotional. Like she said, a fitting end to the type of season that team had, unfortunately.

The trailers that got damaged belonged to some jr dragster racers that luckly had their cars on display elsewhere so there was no one around, or in them them.

She's very lucky to not have been injuried herself cuz I'll bet she had her belts loose when she stopped on the track. It's the natural thing to do. Glad everyone came out ok.

One more good reason to not touch a thing belt and helmet-wise until the car is shut off, and at a complete standstill.

The car WAS already shut off and at a complete stand still, she stopped on the track. It fired back up after being pushed off the track by an ATV.

Here's what I don't understand. I know that they run direct drives in them, but how do they even move the cars around, by engaging the clutch pedal? I guess the friction between the clutches was enough to spin the crank?

Even worse for her, In and Out announced that they are not re upping her sponsorship for next year, so she doesn't even have a clue about her future. Probably not one of her favorite weekends at the track to say the least.

Mel's brief top end announcement after the incident mentioned the clutch pack basically welding itself together after the pass, so I gather the push around the turn was just the same as being push started in the old days, sans hitting the mag switch. There must have been just enough fuel in the lines to diesel the engine over in the compression stroke with the residual heat left in the combustion chamber.
Glad everyone was alright.
