Troxel third DNQ...

  • Thread starter Thread starter jm
  • Start date Start date
Might be time to make a change while there's still time to still make the Countdown. We will see what kind of patience Roger has.

I woudn't count them out just yet. When they get the combo right, that car is going to fly. Brian Thiel is another team that is going to run strong when they get it figured out. Every lap these teams learn something.

I don't think Aaron's going to make the cut if he doesn't pick up the performance soon!
If the run got thrown out there is only one person responsable and it ain't the owner or the driver.

that was vegas and that's not fair to say. It happend to many teams and it's a little messed up. if the body is even a eighth of an inch lower than it should be it gets thown out it does not even affect performance so why they throw it out I dont know but it could be do to anything.

As far as Aaron, he has potential and we have seen, he's tuned to i believe to wins (1 with worsham, 1 troxel) and he's been 4.04 he has been consistant but not often. I don't think he's quite ready to be alone yet, but i believe in him.

You might be right Sir ... but there hasn't even been a glimpse of performance from that car. I know tuning these monsters is at times impossible and I don't have a clue as how to do it, but:
  • Charlotte: #17 @ 4.47
  • Vegas: #18 @ 4.40
  • Gainesville: #17 @ 4.25
  • Pomona: #18 @ 4.45

There is already a huge gap from 1-10 in points and Melanie is already 124 points out of 10th and has yet to qualify. 14 runs on the car this season with a 4.25 best. If RB doesn't make a change, then he is the most patient person on the planet.

He might be but what I said is true. He needs to start picking it up and fast!

As far as the car being prepared that falls squarely on the Crew Chief end of story!

I would be looking at their frame it was front halved in house before testing started and has one good run 4.10 out of 28. They need to change frames now, not crew cheifs.

True, but that depends on what the Sponsor thinks. I'm curious why IN-N-OUT was not on Mels car this weekend?

What a horrid thread this is. I doubt the sponsors read this place, but if they did, the negative shown here about the cars performance and In and Out might stop sponsoring her is just not right. Short as this thread is, this website is very well known right?

Discussing her tuning issues makes more sense doesnt it? Dialing a car in for each track, tempature can take a long time, with alot of data of runs to compare to can effect the engine right?

Lets get this going positive here, guessing her cars types of issues along with how great a person and driver she is. How great In and Out is for coming to sponsor her car, no matter how long the contract or limited amounts of funding it is. Show a little more support and how awesome that is.
They get the exposure, her dqs and poor runs dont make thier food taste worse. The fact their willing to go back into a drag racing sponsorship is really all that matters.
Ok end of my opinion here.

Long winded at best. I hate to break it to you but this is a performance based industry so what is being discussed here is that if it doesn't improve well you get the idea!

I don't think they are paying that much attention to what we are discussing here as much as what's happening on the track! You over estimate the influence this board has on the impact of sponsorships.
Melanie has a very good relationship with In-N-Out and Roger will make the decisions as to the direction the team goes not because of what’s discussed on this board!

This is a sport about performance and Pro Racing is a business. Just like in any business, when the performance isn't up to par you make changes to correct the performance. There's nothing negative just people talking about the poor performance and the potential remedies.

You are right ... but if you read through this thread, you will see that is exactly what most are talking about. Nobody was talking about canning Melanie or anything. Most people feel changes are necessary, whatever they may be. New car, crew chief change, whatever. Always remember business comes first. If In-N-Out felt they were getting a poor ROI, they would walk away in a NY minute.

I feel sorry for Melanie. She has the talent to win a lot of races and the team isn't giving her a car that can win.

I hope that changes somehow.

I don't think anyone from In N Out has to read this to know how poorly the car has been performing but it wouldn't suprise me if they do read this forum.

I feel for all involved, from Melanie to Lindsey, Roger, and Aaron!
I started this thread to hopefully reassure sponsors that Mel is
one heck of a driver, Aaron a tuner, Roger an owner, etc.
I didn't mean to bash anyone, period!

I am probably older than most here but this situation reminds me
of a FC from about 15 years ago. It was owned by Helen Hoffman,
tuned by Wayne Dupuis{I think} and driven by Christen Powell.
Well, this thing couldnt make it past 300' without smoke/shake,
PERIOD. Didnt matter hOW much they back off the motor/clutch!
Well turned out the pipe was old, and flexing at the hit and NOTHING
in the tuning could change that fact. I wonder if they need to bring
the chassis to Murf or another builder, and have it checked for flex.
These frames do wear out. Do you guys remember this at all?
Does anyone remember when Dixon and Tony broke their rails in half?
If I remember right, the builders analyzed the frames and turned out
{If I remember right} that the flexing of the rail IN THE TRAILER,
while going across the highways, going race to race, had weakened the
frames to the point they couldnt handle the stress of the motor.
I believe this led to the inflatable "donuts" that are placed under the
cars and inflated while in transit.

If anyone has a clearer memory and can correct me, please do!

John
