Who`s heading to Heartland Park next weekend? First time out there for us....looking forward to three days of great racing and seeing just how good that Midwest BBQ really is!

I'll be there. HPT has its own brand of zoo, lots of campers and RV'ers between Gary Ormsby Blvd and the track. The facility is large and spread out. Bring comfortable walking shoes! Also, there weather can be anything. Bring t-shirts and shorts, and sweatshirts and a jacket.

Bob, we bought the VIP parking passes, which are right behind the tower. Sitting in GA Fri and Sat and Reserved on Sunday, right below the Blaine Johnson TEC Grandstands. We were going to go TEC, but I didn`t want to be that high up. The place does look pretty damn big!

i'll be there!! come on down to the camper corral and say hey! i'll be easy to find... just look for the 'Spanky's Tonka Truck' :p

We'll be in the same parking lot (please don't ding my rental car :o), but I only have to walk to the tower.

I thought TEC was the entire Blaine Johnson Grandstand. I checked the HPT site, and they don't have a seat map that I could find. ...doesn't matter. You'll have a good time as long as the weather cooperates. :)

We'll be there on Friday. In the Blaine Johnson Grandstands. If you're wanting good BBQ, got to go about 60 miles east to Kansas City Mo. If you want some recommendations, just ask Sean or myself.

Bob, only the upper section of the Blaine Johnson Grandstand is TEC, the lower part is Reserved. I think we`re about 9 rows up on Sunday.

Greg, we are flying into KC early Thursday afternoon, I`m sure we`ll try and find a BBQ place there. A lot of people say Pats Pig near the track is pretty decent too.

opinions are like... well you know

but kc born raised here and the list of great kc bbq should include:

oklahoma joe's (and for effect you need to go to the one in the gas station), rosedale, zarda, gates, smokestack and jackstack, smead's.... any other kc maters?

greg jump in here... what are your favorites?

honestly don't know about topeka bbq? is that like 'texas bbq'? LOL :D

I was supposed to be there but my plans have changed. So all you Kansas maters drive 8 hours west in July and we'll meet up at Bandimere.

One night in Topeka holds one of the top memories for myself, being there when Amato ran the first sub 4.60 with a 4.59 and Force ran the first sub 4.90 with a 4.88. That was one awesome qualifying session.

I'll be there two days, probably Friday and Sat in the Max Naylor pit. For BBQ, Baldwins BBQ (Pat's Pig) is legendary among racers and fans--lots of signed memorabilia and photos on the wall, and you can count on seeing race teams eating there in the evening--great food and great atmosphere and only about 2 mi north of the track on 75. Be sure to check it out!

I would only add ot that list Arthur Bryants 18th and Brooklyn in KC for Brisket and Ribs. Very unique sauces there too. Of course, the best in and around the KC area is still at my house.lol..or at the track when I bring it.

I like Oklahoma Joes the best, Zarda and Gates are pretty good too. :)

Oklahoma Joe's, Jackstack, Smokestack, Haywards, Arthur Bryants.
(No particular order here)
There are also some restaurants in KCK by the Kansas Speedway and that isn't too far from the track, about 30 miles on I-70 so it is a quick drive on the turnpike. There is a Granite City, a Ted's Montana, a Longhorn Steakhouse, a Cheeseburger in Paradise, a Stix, a Famous Dave's BBQ, and a Dave and Buster's to name a few. I am sure there are more, but lot's to choose from there for those wanting to get out of Topeka that is........plus shopping (for the ladies!!). Oh--a Cabela's too for the guys!!

I'll be there, we are racing and park our camper in by our trailer in the new sportsman pit area past the pro pits. It's come a long way with the new shower and bathrooms. No more worrying who would pull you out of the sportsman pits. I have been there for every national and divisional since it opened in 88, lots of great memories. Last year we played catch with Tim Wilkerson on Thursday night, my kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. A few years before that we walked dogs with Whit Bazemore, despite the bad press he was super nice to us. The other nice thing is about 30 feet away the pros campers park so Scelzi and Shoe walked over and signed shirts for the kids. Like I said, got to love HPT!

I agree with Bob- HPT is a big track so be prepared for some hoofin'. Me and a couple a buddies are doing the TEC Fri-Sun as usual. We are on the front row of the upper section on the very end opposite the tower {whichever direction that is!}.
PM if you need any tips or directions!

NOT GONNA MAKE IT EITHER CHRIS!!! SuX cause I was looking forward to it! Gonna have to wait till July here in town...Then VEGAS 2....OH YEAH...I'll be there with Bells On!

Timmah...
