Dunn NC - Top Fuel Dragster pilot Bernie Plourd is teaming up with Drums and Disabilities and Ease Cancer, starting at the final IHRA event in Dunn, NC, November 6-8 at Galot Motorsports Park. Plourd, a former NHRA Winternationals Champion in Top Alcohol Dragster, began his professional driving career earlier this season in Columbus, competing in the IHRA Outlaw Drag Racing Series. After getting two races under his belt, Plourd is more comfortable in the car and is now looking to expand his presence in both the NHRA and IHRA series next year under the continued guidance of veteran funny car driver Terry Haddock. Haddock has been instrumental in helping Plourd realize his dream of competing in Top Fuel Dragster, also known as the Kings of the Sport.
Both Drums and Disabilities and Ease Cancer will be showcased on Plourd's sleek black Top Fuel Dragster at Galot and beyond. "We are excited to shine the spotlight on both of these great organizations that are there to help people who are in need" Plourd said.
Drums and Disabilities, founded by professional rock drummer Pat Gesualdo, helps disabled children and adults through the use of drum therapy and has chapters world-wide. Gesualdo, who himself was born with severe dyslexia, overcame the disability by drumming three hours a day and then began helping others through drumming, which led to him founding DAD. EASE Cancer, whose acronym is Exercise and Survivorship Education, is an innovative program that assists cancer survivors and people living with the disease enhanced services, education, and empowerment in underserved rural areas of North Central Washington State.
