Who's to say that won't happen anyway. With Alan and Jason leaving there's a good chance that car won't be quite as dominant.

Should he continue in the long cars where the numbers are fewer and go on to attempt to prove that his driving and team could have something to do with his success beyond Alan Johnson's tuning? It's only my opinion but I believe that for many, his championships will always be considered a direct result of Alan if he doesn't continue to be competitive once Alan has departed. He could even be fortunate enough to make his name in spite of Alan's departure and if everything works as planned, he could surpass Alan's new long car thereby proving a great deal for the Schumacher name.
Lastly, I would have to say that the competition in Funny Cars is greater than that in the dragsters but, again, that's opinion.

That's kind of along the lines I was thinking as well. It might make scense for him to move to FC because he would be living in AJ's shadow otherwise. There would always be the comparison to AJ's infulnce on the team, and post AJ.

don't care what he does next year.
FC fields have been full the last few years, and before it was the TF's;
the tide will flow back to TF's again, maybe as early as next year,
especially if factory backing continues to dry up.

Tony Shoe won races and a Championship before AJ ... I am certainly not willing to write him off from winning races and Championships without AJ ... that team will continue to have everything it needs to be out front.

In the quotes from Tony Schu, he says "If AJ drives" twice. Does that mean Alan would drive? Or just wherever AJ puts more tuning focus?
Maybe I have been looking at numbers here at work too much and am easily confused.
As far as Tony winning, I agree with Chris. He is a good driver. It was the whole package that they had the last few years, especially this year. The TEAM is just that good. They have a great handle on the car and tuneup.

Tony Shoe staying in top fuel, Tommy Johnson coming to top fuel. In my opinion this is what the class needs. Funny Car has enough aces.

AJ tuned Scelzi and won, before he tuned Tony to consecutive championships.
Let's see what Tony can do without AJ.
