Fuel pump and blower. 2 lower cost and quick options.

Whatever they do decide to change though I believe that they must test. Either use team cars and allow everyone on the board, or whoever wants to, to witness it. I'm sure that would get into some trade secret issues. Maybe nhra needs to get a rail and fc, just to test whatever set ups and new rules they are thinking about. Let these masterminds on the safety board beat the hell of it, press it and see what will and will not work.

It seems the 1000' is here for the season so they do have time.

Intersting how a few weeks ago they tell us that all the drivers want 1000' foot. However it seems most are only ok with it for the very short term. On the telecast they kept saying how there would be no need to change set ups and they are already pressing thing as hard as they'll go then in the next breath talk about how at races later this year in the they'll be abel to press it more. I'm so confused:eek:

These cars run 5.80's @ 240+ MPH now with a small blower, small pump, points mag, 3 disk clutch, and a 2 speed on 34.5" tires.

Some of the big thinkers in the movement feel these cars are able to support mid 5's at 280+.

That looks very cool, but there's no way you could run a car like that with a current generation nitro engine. You could get it down the track with some of the highest output Top Sportsman engines, but even some of them would make the thing a beast to hook up and handle.

Perhaps, but I don't think the powers that be want TF Diggers and Fuel Floppers, the Kings & Queens of the sport, running slower than their A/FD / TAD & TA/FC counterparts...

OK here ya go.... TOP FUEL and TOP FUEL FUNNY CAR will have to run Alcohol chassis and bodies. Alcohol clutches, Lenco's and computers.

The alcohol classes will now have to run NOSTALGIA BODIES and Rules.. ;):D;):D

I see some selective reading here mixed in with adding words to some one elses mouth. lol

However just to clairfy. NO ONE is talking changes Today.

perhaps in your case you don't LOOK at Nosalgia FCars. I think it would do you well. Hint just in case you mind is not able to google. Hot Rod Heritage Series NostalgiaFest - AA/FC News and then look at the times they produce. With one mag even.. the point is it's fun and you can even tell what kinda cars they are.

look further at the TF cars they run over there with a 12.5 tire..
As for the mono wing.. Since you brought it up.. your mind must not be working. Since if you selectively read and type with out thinking.. that issue is DEAD.. to enlighten you a team spent a lot of $$$ trying to bring it to use and got shut down by NHRA again perhaps your google fingers are not up to task on finding out who it is. I never said MONO wing.

Now lets see what your real imput is as to how to slow them down.. Come on lets hear it.

oh and please don't repeat anyone. it shows lack of meaningful use of the keyboard and brain cells.

Changes can't be made over night and unless your China.
You proved my point with both this and your previous post. Some of the suggested changes being made don't make real world sense.

Nostalgia fuel dragsters and funny cars aren't running as quick or as fast as the alky classes are today. How is anything related to them supposed to represent solutions to today's Top Fuel Dragsters and Fuel Funny Cars?

My 2008 NHRA rule book doesn't say anything about a monostrut wing support being illegal, and there's nothing in the current rules revisions about them either. As long as Fuller's three element wing met spec, and the strut met SFI standards, it was legal. I don't know why they stopped running that configuration, but I suspect it may have had something to do with the strut enclosure acting more like a rudder or vertical stabilizer than they wanted it to. Kloeber might have had a better idea by not enclosing the strut structure with body panels. That would make the car easier to steer, especially under conditions that include crosswinds.

My real input on how to slow these cars down (and not make them slower than some sportsman classes) is to defer those decisions to the people who build, own and drive the cars. They will serve the sport far better than any fantasy wish lists.

who cares what the alcohol classes do . VERY FEW OF US ...relatively speaking

they are almost as fast as top fuel and no one stays to watch them.

Blown Fuel is where it's at. Period. It's not all about speed.

the nationwide series is just as fast as the sprint series in nascar. does anyone care? NO

I mean , they watch if they can't get a ticket to sundays race.

But the sunday show isn't cheapened in any way by the saturday show being just as fast.

Apples and bowling balls Bob. In drag racing, all classes race Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Everyday is the show. And if some of the changes being advocated actually happened, the alky cars would be faster than the nitro cars.

So slow them down too then if it's that important.

So, you're not a drag racing fan in an all-inclusive sense, but specifically a TF and AAFC fan. I think we understand that now since you've shown your disdain, or perhaps indifference, to the non-fuel classes. I suppose this is why I'm having trouble relating to your position in all this.

You're Nascar analogy is false. I've only been to one Nascar event, Darlington 2001. A friend hooked me up with tickets to the Nationwide (then Busch) race on Saturday. It was pretty cool and gave me a greater appreciation for the series but I was surprised at how much faster the big cars were when they came out for Happy Hour immediately following the Busch race.

I am indifferent yes. To me the alky classes are like opening acts at a concert. Not bad, but not what I came for.

At Daytona because of restrictor plates the top series is not any faster than the nationwide series. That's my frame of reference because that's the only nascar track I've been to. What I said is true there.

Restrictor plate racing is the model I 'm looking at really. It's tracks like Daytona that Nascar needed to slow the cars on . and they did.

and they didn't change the track.

It would be possible (and incredibly expensive) to shorten restrictor plate Cup tracks. The ability to lengthen some drag strips is impossible. NASCAR took the most economical (for everyone involved) route to make it more likely their drivers would survive to race another day. That too is what the 1000' finish line for drag racing's nitro classes has done.
