Tony Pedregon is going into Sunday’s first round of the Auto-Plus Fall Nationals looking for an upset victory at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa.
Pedregon’s Nitro Fish Funny Car covered the 1,000-foot track in 4.169 seconds at 297.22 mph during Saturday’s final qualifying session. He races Tim Wilkerson (No. 4, 4.027 at 307.86 mph).
“We feel pretty confident we can get our car to run in the 4.0 (second) range,” Pedregon said. “We know what it takes to run quicker, and we are going to take that chance to run better. We aren’t going to be content just going down the race track.”
