Tony Pedregon pulled off a first-round victory over Tim Wilkerson in Sunday’s opening round of the Auto-Plus Fall Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway on the way to a quarterfinal finish.
Pedregon’s No. 13 qualifying Nitro Fish Funny Car had better traction than his rival, winning in 6.164 seconds at 293.03 mph to No. 4 Wilkerson’s tire-smoking 9.118 at 90.04.
In the quarterfinals, Pedregon was stopped by Bob Tasca III. Tasca posted a time of 4.146 at 299.20 to a 4.727 at 177.39.
