There were smiles around for LE Tonglet and the Nitro Fish/Tonglet Racing Suzuki GXP Pro Stock Motorcycle team after Friday’s 6.936-second, 191.08-mph quarter-mile lap in the opening qualifying run for Sunday’s Auto Club NHRA Finals.
“That was the quickest run we’ve had a long time,” said Tonglet, who was 10th after the first of four attempts. “It shows a lot of potential, and it wasn’t a perfect run. We had a little problem with tire hopping. But overall, that was a confidence booster.”
Team owner and tuner Gary was also pleased. “I was impressed with it. We made some changes and we are happy with the results.”
The second attempt is scheduled at noon on Friday.
