Recommended reading from Billy Meyer. Go to John Force Racing and click on the update tab for John's condition, and then on the tab for Billy Meyer's letter "Things happen for a reason." What he speaks of has been true in my life.

Bold and awesome! Thank you Billy for such sound counsel to/for us all. I believe John shares your belief but may have more difficulty expressing such in his own words, if you know what I mean.

May Billy's heartfelt words, be the bridge between those who read it and a personal relationship with Jesus, for those who do not have one.

It's refreshing to read comments like Billy's in this overly PC anti Christianity world.

I am Glad he speaks his mind and from his heart.

I found comfort and inspiration.

Thanks Billy............God Bless...................

I found What Billy wrote very Inspirational... He spoke from his Heart, what he and most here Believe.

And Please, don't ever think I'm Anti Christianity
I base my life on "Do unto Others as You would have Them Do unto You" I call it Karma... and I too believe we are here for a Greater Purpose

If anyone has any questions regarding what Billy Meyer is talking about please feel free to send me a PM. I trust that God will make good come out of what as happened to Team Force this year.

I believe this letter was sent out to everyone on the Motorplex email list... I received it last week. I think he did a great job expressing the emotions of the moment. As one of the local newspaper columnists wrote - "silence is the worst sound at a drag race."

Yep , the man has a plan for everyone, even if they don't know it yet.

Great letter from a great Drag Racing Legend.
I still remember when they said Billy was just a spoiled rich kid and not a serious drag racer.

Boy were they ever wrong!

Russ:

Thanks for the post. I know John has opened his eyes toward the things that really matter, and now God has shown himself to be real to JF one more time. Many people look up to him as a role model and his reaction to this near death experience is creating waves throughout motorsports. God has his ways of finding us and getting out attention whether we like it or not. And most don't.

I posted this on another thread and got a lot of response through PM's and emails. It's worth sharing one more time:

Re: F/C chassis integrity

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little off topic but still related.

I watched the video again tonight with the in-laws and our main focus was watching John in the car. My father-in-law is nearly blind but still wanted to take a look. He is related to JF's father and family which is why he was interested.

We came to the conclusion that John was in God's hands in that car.

Frame by frame shows the chassis ripping away leaving John without any protection at all from the thighs down. His legs, feet up, extend down track. Next the drivers compartment tilts back. With both his legs up in the air he hangs on as he pivots. The next motion is a twist which causes the cage to impact the ground over his right shoulder. At that point the compartment rotates down and his knee appears to make contact with the ground. About that same time the chutes catch the guard rail and snag the gate which immediately stops him from going another foot down the track.

If the chutes had not caught the gate the driver's compartment would have started a series of rolling tumbles down the track until the whole mess came to a stop which could have been as far as the sand trap. Every time the driver's compartment rolled over it would have worked his feet, legs, arms and body. I don't need to comment on what that would have done to John because it never happened.

If you have access to the video look at it again and see how close to the beginning of the disaster John stopped. I think it was a miracle.

You could sit in the back of a moving pick-up truck tossing parachutes at that gate for an hour and never get a chute to catch it like it did. But John's caught it in one try.

Thank God for miracles. I hope John is thanking Him, too.

Seeing is believing. And I'm not much of a believer in luck. If I was, I'd be broke buying Lottery Tickets. The older I get, the more my eyes are opened.

Dust off grandma's old Bible on the shelf if you are interested and find John 3:16-17 (about 2/3 the way through the Bible). That's what Billy Meyer, John Force, Eric Medlen and John Medlen are all about.

My wife is a Baptist preacher's daughter, so i am very happy to be called a believer of the good Lord, what a great piece of writing:):) Ed Wulff prays with me b/4 each race and proud of it.;)

Thankfully you don't have to be the wife or husband of anyones daughter.

Remember, just because you are in a garage doesn't make you a car.

Read John 6:35-40.

Ephesians 2:8-10 or better yet 1-10.

I find more christians at the race track than I do at a lot of other places. The demographics has changed in drag racing from a part hippy stereotype culture to a more conservative one. I often tell people that ironicly in drag racing we publicly open the event with prayer, which is something you don't do at schools.

I applaud Russ for bring this up and inviting people to ask questions. If you ever wondered or had questions now would be a great oportunity private mail him and ask.

Great piece... (or is it peace?) - Thanks for sharing.

I heard a quote once that I never forgot: "A Bible that's falling apart normally belongs to someone who isn't." Pretty much sums it up.

Randy, I've never met you, but I agree - John Force (and Kenny Bernstein, for that matter) was definitely in God's hands that fateful day...

In 1979 Tom Stratton painted and lettered my altered. When he did it he put a small fish logo on the back of the deck above my parachute. In the very early 1980's like around 1981 a guy came up to me when I was racing at OCIR and asked me what I thought about him starting an organization that would bring church to people who are normally racing on Sundays. It was because this guy saw the fish that he decided to ask me what I thought. I told him that if he felt led to do it he should. You never know what could come from it.

His name? Ken Owen. The organization he started? Racers For Christ.

Funny how someone's vision can turn out when a force stronger than the universe is behind it.
