Billy Kimmel fatally injured at Williams Grove
Billy Kimmel was killed in a turn four crash on the 24th lap of the September 2nd 410 feature. His car got sideways high in middle of turns three and four, the tires caught and the car barrel-rolled. Jeff Shepard and Michael Carber had nowhere to go and hit the flipping #47. Billy was pronounced dead in the parking lot where Life Lion was waiting to transport him.
Billy was 27 years old. His parents and girlfriend were present.
He was an occasional competitor at Lincoln and we will miss him dearly.
While I realize Billy was a sprint car driver, I feel as a race fan there may be some out there who would help this racer fulfill his dream.
Billy's Dream
Before Billy's tragic death, he had a dream that he wanted to fulfill. This dream was to get as many race teams as possible to donate a t-shirt that he was going to put into a basket, that was signed by all of the local drivers. After all t-shirts were collected, this basket was going to be auctioned off at the National Open Chili Cook Off at Williams Grove Speedway, prior to the September 29 race. All proceeds were going to be donated back to the drivers.
We want to make Billy's dream happen. On Saturday Night at Port Royal, during the Tuscarora 50, Mark Coldren and Jordan Givler will be coming around with this basket, asking for t-shirt donations as well as asking for signatures on this basket. We want to make this huge. We are asking any driver, in any division, in any part of the world, please help Billy's dream become a reality.
