I saw The Who at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and was a fan for many years after that. Still consider them to be one of the best bands of the era and Live at Leeds to be the best live rock album ever recorded. However, in my opinion there is not much Who without John Entwistle and Keith Moon. For me, a Who concert today would be rather like seeing a Beatles reunion without John Lennon and George Harrison.
And when I first saw them at Monterey that's exactly what they did. Got to say that was a pretty impressive act to a fourteen year old kid.
I understand how you feel Rich but if there were acceptable losses (which I say figuratively) I'd rather see John and Keith be departed and still see a Who concert than Pete and Roger. I'm not sure I'd call them replaceable but I won't write them off as long as Pete and Roger are still part of the package.
Hey Paul, Zack Starky on Drums (Ringo's Son) and Tito Palatino (sp?) on bass, Great rhythm section.
Pino Paladino (usually plays with Eric Clapton and D'Angelo..)
