Near the end of the video Brian said the car never moved an inch under it's own power. "Not a single inch of wheel driven forward progress has ever been made by Quad Al." (at the 8:24 mark)

sorry, you are right,iam old, the car i remember was 34 ford with one allison the top with chopped so much his head came out the top.

Tex took the 34 body off and put a Mustang body on it. He ran that at Lions and San Fernando.

Too much of a good thing but what a visual stunner. I bet that thing weighed 7000 pounds.

I miss the twins..Eddie Hill, the Freight Train and such. This piece, "double vision" by Steve Reyes, highlights the glory days of the twin.

The twin that I liked the most was the Busby & Burnard car. Just cuz it had twin injected DOHC engines. I know they were Indy Car engines, maybe Fords? Back then, those were expensive engines to be running nitro. Also the Adams & Enriquez twin. It did run 6.70's at around 220, quickest & fastest ever at the time, but not that competitive.

I don't remember it ever running Lions. the single engine many times. speaking of twin engine cars I drove the twin for Leo Dunn at six race's, two 510 cu. in injected chev's. it was a fun car to drive, but it was beyond it's time to be competitive. when I quit driving it Leo put it in the trailer and there it stayed for 30 plus years until Leo's daughter restored it.

Those were expensive engines regardless of the fuel. Yep, Indy 255-inch, Ford/Lotus design and quite successful in its day. One of the most beautiful engines ever built. Hot-V design with the intake/exhaust ports reversed. (Den of Snakes" headers) Click the pic; she's purdy.

Doesn't strike me as a wise choice for a top fuel car, however, even back then. Wonder what happened to that thing?
