Some South African doctors are reporting that while this new variant appears to be wildly contageous, at the same time it's presenting unusual and surprisingly mild symptoms. Way too soon to know if vaccines or immunity to other variants will help people who contract this one.

What a shame this disease has been politicized to death. Good, helpful information could and likely has gone by the wayside because nobody believes anybody anymore in regards to it.

Florida has the lowest virus and death rates in the US, and also has the least amount of restrictions placed on the lives of it's residents. I'm sure the Gatornationals is safe.

That’s not true. Florida ranks ninth for deaths per capita. The only thing keeping it from worse is a relatively high vaccination rate compared to other conservative states, I guess given the significant population of retirees.

Anyways, back to the subject. It seems the information around Omicron so far indicates it’s is more transmissible but the symptoms are less severe. From what I have read, this was how the Spanish flu went along, becoming more virulent but less dangerous over time. A good virus doesn’t kill too many of its hosts too soon. It also seems as though the vaccines will remain effective. All of this is of course just what I have picked up from reading, so take it with as many grains of salt as you would like. I doubt we are going to see any major changes.

I wondered if you were on to something different than what we see happening around us here in central Florida. So I went to the CDC website. While there data won't load in other areas I wished to look at, from what I was able to find, I'm happy to report that the CDC says Florida is doing great.

Naturally, the mainstream media reported the first part but not the second.
No wonder so many panicked. We've seen this movie - how many times - before?

Drag racing promoters (including NHRA) would be stupid to not promote their most exciting and crowd drawing "shows".
Getting people to watch the shows is what pays the bills. The more people that watch, the more profitable the promoter become.

Mainstream media heads are nothing but promoters. The more they scare us, lie or twist the truth, the more we watch for fear we may miss something important to us and our families. IF the media didn't scare us, we would go play golf, go drag racing, watch sports, etc. The more they scare us with twisted facts, the more we watch and the higher price they can charge for their commercials,,, and the more profitable and powerful the mainstream media becomes.

Drag racing promoters have it much harder as they cannot twist the truth and get the crowd to buy the lie the second time.
Mainstream media can and does twist the truth constantly and for fear of it being the actual truth, we watch.
And some people think drag racing promoters are the bad guys.

Fear not. While some areas may get back into indoor restrictions, there’s not a lot of political will to go restriction crazy so outdoor venues should be fine. This stuff will come and go in intensity. Plus, we learned that we can engage in certain activities and survive. When covid first started, there was no traffic on the streets, we sanitized groceries and fedex packages, stayed away from our grandkids etc. then we learned that we won’t instantly melt with human or surface contact. Take reasonable precautions and do stuff.
