They said the same thing about the Delta Variant and all was fine. We need to learn to live with it and not run and hide and act like the world is ending. It will be fine, if you're scared, stay home.
Here we go again! The FUD media was running out of things to glorify so now their on this variant feeding frenzy. It seems news reports is nothing more than how many different ways can you say the same thing.
Yes, the virus is real. Yes, it may/can/will kill a lot of people. Yes, I have been cautious from the beginning with vaccine/mask/avoiding large crowds (except for a drag race or 2).
No, I'm not changing my life style.

DISCLAIMER: Both political parties have pushed Dr. Fauci's Covid 19 plan. The following is not a statement against any political party. It's only my rant about not getting to go to cancelled races and living my life as I see fit.

Yes, I'm old and I've COPD respiratory issues. The first 6 months of China19, my family was all over me to stay in back of the house away from even my grandkids. Bull pastry! Now every 6 months I take the hydroxychloroquine regiment plus Zinc and vitamin D and that's all the experimenting I plan to do and I'm long done with staying under the porch. So glad to live in Florida where my grandkids can go to school without a muzzle. The only people I can't hear or understand anymore are the stores that still demand their staff wear the facemask. You know, the one that's the equivalent of trying to stop mosquitos with a chain-link fence.

I've been to both Orlando Speed World Doorslammer Nationals, the World Street Nationals and many other events where I talk to people from all over the country. I go to the store, to church and VFW/AL meetings including hosting my VN platoon buddies mini-reunion here in Orlando. I only wear the mask at places where I want their product bad enough to suffer the lack of air that I really need. (Yes, I know that with COPD, legally I don't have to wear it at all. You try to explain that to some "Chicken Little" clerk. They aren't worth the effort.)

I go where I want and IF you don't hear from me, it just may mean I caught China19 and didn't make it. That will still beat the h3ll out of staying under the porch afraid of everybody's shadow. It's called Freedom and too many of our forefathers died so we can have it.
Live Free or Die! See you at the drags... if they aren't cancelled.

I got both shots and the booster shot with no side effects at all, not even a sore arm. Feel fantactic, ready to party on!
I could care less if people don't get the vaccine, it's none of my business!
But don't come looking for sympathy from me when you get sick or die.
I will just tell you to look up sympathy in the dictionary, it's between shit and syphilis!

Spencer, cancelling races would only be due to somebody in power either being scared or power hungry... with possibly an ulterior motive. The only other option I can think of would be the track operator or NHRA being so "scared" they cancel their events for "fear" of getting sued and/or negative publicity. Not sure how that involves patriotism, faux or not...

I watched my mother die of Covid. If that doesn't put the fear of God in you, you are too self absorbed to be useful to this country.

Would you care to be responsible for an event that wipes out people or relatives of people in your crowd? Not me.

The reason you can’t separate politics from the virus isn’t our fault, it’s the government’s fault. It’s the media’s fault. Kinda coincidental that after the high fuel prices and virus didn’t stop the Thanksgiving travel day and Black Friday, that the new variant came out just in time to muck up Christmas…….

Mark, my sincere condolences for your loss. I lost my 95 year old mother to heart disease and natural causes so I can't compare the two. But in September I lost my 17 year old granddaughter to negligent homicide. I understand painful loss and we are still highly suffering from the theft of our granddaughter's life. As much as I don't want to, I must forgive the person who effectively killed my granddaughter as I am seriously not without sin myself.

We could have tried to keep my granddaughter locked up and safe as she deserved to live life too. But what a crappy life that would have been. She was planning on a career in drag racing and would probably have been behind the wheel of her dad's 8 sec. Mustang before too much longer. She lived life well and it's my hope the rest of us can enjoy life too.

Regarding Covid 19 and its affect on racing and all other activities, those that want to can stay at home and its their choice. Just remember, the guy who drives the delivery truck or works in the ER and all other "essential" workers are not and it's amazing how the many millions of them are doing just fine. Life always has had daily risks and hopefully we will still get to choose how much risk we are willing to take. Otherwise, we all must quit driving and doing other everyday life events as there are people who make mistakes in every event we humans participate in.

Anything I would say beyond this might be against the policy's of this website and might possibly make you mad at me. That's not my desire at all. I guess all I can do is say I'm sincerely sorry for your loss, that we may disagree in how to live life to the fullest and I wish you and yours well. G.B.

How a simple observation turned into a faux patriotism parade is quite impressive. The initial post simply hoped that this upcoming season goes on as planned, like we all wish. He didn't say anything about anybody being scared.
It's the off season, we got to have something to complain about.

First off, Phil and Mark I am sorry for both of your losses. And Phil you are a much bigger man than I could be because I could never forgive someone who took the life of a family member. About all this covid stuff I do not know what to believe anymore. I know the virus is real and has hurt a lot of people but watching the fallout from this I feel has hurt a lot of people who never had covid as well whether through the loss of a family member, the loss of a job/business or their loss of their way of life. All of the following is personal opinion and I may be right or I may be wrong but the three people I know who have passed from covid all have had massive health problems. One had cancer/heart attack within the last few years. Two of them had diabetes and two of the had been overweight so those had major factors in it. Im 95% sure I had covid back in January 2020 and it surely knocked me flat to the point where I missed a whole week of work and it was still another two weeks of using an inhaler and cough drops before I felt 100% again. Back during that time period I was also the heaviest I have ever been with a non physical job. Since then I have taken steps to become healthier. Ive started eating better, cut way way down on sugar intake because diabetes scares the shit out of me watching multiple friends suffer from it. I also started a job where I walked around a lot, roughly 8-10 miles a day, and while I dont know how much weight I've lost because I dont own a scale Ive gone from a 44 waste to 38 and have felt much better. Not to mention started taking vitamin C every morning since I read a couple articles last summer about how 80-90% of covid patients had a vitamin c deficiency and earlier this year Ive added vitamin D and zinc to the daily routine. My whole point of that is how many people are actually taking care of themselves and giving themselves the tools and immune system to fight this covid? If people would make lifestyle changes to live a little healthier I think that would make a huge difference in this covid mess. Locking us down again is not the answer, taking care of ourselves and giving ourselves the natural tools to fight an illness is what we should focus on.

I caught Covid and was down for 3 weeks on the couch (thanks doc for keeping me out of the hospital!) after my previous illness in 2019 that strongly mimicked Covid. Back then, I was on the ventilator, in a coma for a week. I have some lung damage, immune system issues, am a little heavy and don't eat as healthy as I should. History of heart stuff in my family too.

My 80 yo uncle is in a nursing home and caught Covid when his roomate died from it. He was a former smoker, has diabetes, is on a dialysis machine 3 times a week and has heart issues as well as being a bladder cancer survivor. He survived with mild symptoms.

I don't think comorbidities are the reason for all the deaths....I think the refusal to let doctors treat their patients with cheap and available, safe alternative drugs is going to turn out to be the reason so many couldn't be saved. Someday the truth will be known.

I couldn't find the double 'like' button! Well said Jim!

Florida has the lowest virus and death rates in the US, and also has the least amount of restrictions placed on the lives of it's residents. I'm sure the Gatornationals is safe.
