Did You Know . . . (sorry, Bob)
1. that the Michelin Man's full name is Bibendum? It translates from Latin as "Heavy Drinking" Seems like the Michelin Bros. saw a poster of a giant drinking beer and thought he might look like a man made out of tires (probably some drinking was involved by the Bros Michelin.)
2. Mr. Bib - as he is now known, is white becuase early tires were - white! Carbon black was added later as a preservative - did 'ya know that one?
3. Bibendum is the second oldest known corporate "mascot" in the world - oldest? The Quaker Oats Pilgrim dating from 1877.
And . . . 4. He was put on a diet when he started to appear in animated commercials, but still had short arms. When he was promoted to test driver in the latest Michelin commercial, he was finally able to reach the steering wheel!
Thought this was fun - just shows how ready we are for racing -
Fire 'Em Up! - :D
