Tesla P100D

I agree that it's impressive, but just for short bursts. One of my best friends has a Tesla, and after taking a trip with him to Charlotte to watch the race at zMax, I concluded that you could never get me to own one. A trip that normally takes me a little over 3 hours from Atlanta took us around 6 hours because we had to stop and charge the car each way. He jumped on it a couple of times and you could just watch the battery indicator drop.

The local dealership let me have one for several days. Ludicrous mode is a hoot. My wife, who has a pretty fast street car as her daily driver was not overly impressed. The lack of structural rigidity in the rear half of the car worried me. Ultimately I was weighing the self driving features very heavily into my purchase decision (for my own daily driver), and I was pretty easily able to put it into situations it could not handle .... so it was a no go. In a straight line, it is an impressive car.
If you can afford the car, you're probably not too concerned about the cost of the battery IMO.

Kinda similar to the people who are poking fun at the new Jeep Trackhawk's gas mileage (11 city / 17 hwy). If you can afford a 100K 707hp SUV you can afford the gas!
