You're welcome Jay. I haven't gotten into many of these types of shows. I don't really like to see people put down in front of a national audience... I don't find that entertaining. But this show isn't 'that' bad. They've had some incredible talent on it and this guy was fantastic.

Glad you enjoyed him. And just think, there's problably a whole bunch of youngin's out there who have no idea what a ventriloquist is. Even the person who sent the item to me, called Terry an 'impersonator'. HA!

As talented as this guy is, makes you wonder how he went totally "UNnoticed" as he put it? Talent like that doesn't stay a secret unless the person has little or NO motivation!

I don't agree. Talent like he has gone unnoticed because if someone told me about a great ventriloquist, I probably still wouldn't go to see him. He had the motivation to get on the show.... and now the whole world knows about ventriliquism.

That form of entertainment was a thing of the past.

I agree with you Jackie. You NEVER see ventriloquists on national TV shows any more. Variety shows like Carol Burnett's, Ed Sullivan's, and Andy Williams and the like have disappeared in the past 20 years. Those are the type of shows that used to feature acts like Terry's. I'm betting he's been knocking on lots of doors over the years, only to be told by producers and agents "Fuggetaboutitt!! NOBODY does ventriloquism any more! Americans only want to see stupid addicted blonds with average talent and pornographic misogynistic rappers."

And thank you for posting those. I never watched the show, but I'm sorry I missed this guy. I'm guessing we'll be seeing more of him in the future.

wow, that guy is fantastic.
funny there's talk of old variety shows, with carol burnett showing her face
around lately and guthy-renkor infomercials selling old episodes of her show;
it wouldn't surprise me a bit if somebody put a variety show together
for one of three big networks.
history repeating itself......i hope.

It's not a dead art Jeff Dunham is pretty popular and does a great job. They often show his stuff on comedy central. He is very much worth watching.
Jeff Dunham - Welcome to Jeff Dunham.com!

What Terry has that is so different is that its not just characters he impersonates actual people I was watching when he broke out with the Ella Friztgerald At Last it blew me away. He is very good

I'll tell ya..since Jackee posted the link I have entertained much people with this..he just cracks me up. I have the .flv files saved to pass on to others that I want to see this.

To me..it's just beyond ordinary..the confidence he displays, along with his talent just slays me!

And the first vid where everyone goes "Oh no a ventriloquist"..LOL..and then he just does what he does..a puppet doing impersonations..hehe

It happens in the music business all the time. No matter how talented a peson might be, there's too many pieces of the puzzle that have to fit together at the right time for them to become "known". Sometimes it's luck, sometimes it's diligence, usually it's a combination of the two.

But Tom the Music biz is Far more competitive than a Ventriloquist isn't it? Word of mouth is a powerful thing!

Every facet of the entertainment biz is ultra-competitive. Besides, was there anything about him that struck you as exuding a lack of drive or motivation? Sounded to me like he's been slugging it out for about 20 years. Helluva talent, that's for sure... the guy can sing his butt off and has mastered the ventriloquism end of things, to say the least. I predict he'll end up being a strong Vegas performer, maybe headlining a variety show or something.
