STEVENS PRIMED FOR WESTERNATIONALS

The Perth Motorplex is gearing up for Western Australia’s biggest ever Drag Racing event with close to 300 racers from around Australia, including the countries fastest sedans and motorcycles, arriving for the 36th Westernationals on March 3-4.

Featuring Round 5 of the Australian Top Doorslammer and Top Fuel Bike Championships, one man on a mission to take maximum points in both brackets over the weekend is Jack Daniel’s Racing’s Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens.

Stevens is in stunning form after taking victory in the quickest Top Doorslammer field in history during the last round of the Championship at Sydney in a personal best time of 6.01 seconds at 242 mph (390 kph).

He is confident that he can keep this winning formula going in Perth , with the new found setups in his 3000 horsepower cars certain to shake up the tight field.

“After a great deal of data analysis and testing we have now developed a combination for the new Falcon Top Doorslammers that will be at the top of the time sheets,” Stevens said.

“In Sydney I was able to run consistent 6.0 second passes in my car, and in Perth we will be attempting to get Kath’s (Stevens) Jack Daniel’s Racing and Steve’s (Packman) Glenfords Racing Doorslammers running these numbers as well.”

“The qualifying show is going to be just as exciting as the Finals, there are so many fast cars and the competition is so tight it will be a spectacle to see who will make the field.”

“Adding to this is the fact that the weather and track conditions at the Motorplex are nearly always great for running fast times, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some 5 second Doorslammer passes.”

On top of his Top Doorslammer, Stevens will also be competing in Top Bike alongside team mate Troy McLean aboard their Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley’s.

McLean is currently sitting in second place in the National Championship and after taking victory at the Motorplex on his last visit to Western Australia in December is also looking for a good result at the Westernationals.

“We go into every event attempting to win and have shown that with consistent, fast performances we can get good results,” McLean said.

“I am sitting second in the Top Bike Championship coming into the Westernationals with 3 rounds still remaining and am still mathematically a chance.”

“We know our bikes can consistently run mid 6 second passes and we are hoping that this will give us a one-two finish for the team.”
