STEVE BRUCE RACING ASSEMBLES NEW TEAM FOR 2008 SEASON

(1-10-08) Lawrence, KS Steve Bruce, owner of Steve Bruce Race Cars is proud to announce the addition of Dave Jordan to his race team. Jordan will serve as tuner and crew chief on Bruce's "Wild & Wicked" '69 Camaro Nitro Coupe. Dave arrives at Steve Bruce Racing after having spent a number of years tuning for the Barklage Family Racing operation. Jordan led brothers, Zach and Cody to the #1 and #2 spots in Super Chevy points in 2007. Best performance numbers for the Steve Bruce built '57 Chevy of Zach Barklage were an impressive 6.01 @ 235 mph last season. These are both current Super Chevy national records The fact that Steve Bruce is one of the premiere chassis builders in the midwest only enhances the relationship between Steve and Dave. Jordan will now be involved with the race car from the ground up, which will give the team many advantages over the competition. The transition to the new team should be seamless and big numbers are expected in 2008.

Steve Bruce is preparing for a full scale assault on the Super Chevy circuit in 2008. Competing in only 6 of 17 events in 2007, Bruce still managed to finish the year in the #10 spot. In addition to gunning for the Super Chevy World Championship in 2008, Steve plans on hitting selected ADRL and midwest outlaw pro modified races. Best numbers for the Camaro in2007 were 6.26 @ 228 mph and Bruce is intent on lowering these numbers by 2 to 3 tenths and picking up close to 10 mph. Jordan's mastery of blown alcohol tuning and Bruce's chassis experience should be a formidable one-two punch for the team.

As is always the case in motorsports at this level, teamwork is of paramount importance. Bruce and Jordan have the same drive to win and have discovered many common interests. Jordan would like to thank Bill Barrett for all the assistance he has provided over the years that has molded him into the capable crew chief that he is today. It takes a lot of money to keep the wheels turning in the sport of drag racing and Steve Bruce would also like to thank his many sponsors for their support which allows him to commit to the entire 2008 Super Chevy race schedule.

In years past, Steve Bruce divided his time between driving the rig to the races, wrenching, tuning, and driving the race car. All these duties on top of running his own chassis shop and metal fabrication business spread Steve pretty thin. The addition of Jordan will allow Bruce to focus primarily on mental preparation and driving the race car. Dave sums up his new relationship with Steve Bruce Racing, "I am very happy to be on board with Steve and I look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship." Bruce is also very complimentary saying "To be able to attract a crew chief of Dave Jordan's caliber completes the picture for Steve Bruce Racing and we couldn't be more excited. We expect big things in 2008 and I am confident that Dave will deliver." Rounding out the rest of the Bruce Racing Team are Justin "The Smash" Nash serving as assistant crew chief to Jordan. Wife, Linda Bruce handles executive pit duties and son Todd Bruce helps with between round maintenance. Roger Haverstadt acts as team manger and public relations representative.

Notice has been served to the Super Chevy Series that there is a new sheriff in town and Bruce and Jordan have their gun sights set on the "Outlaws" of the racing world. The new team is anticipating initial testing in February to begin accumulating data for the upcoming season. When in the pits at any promod race this year, please follow your nose, as Steve routinely throws legendary barbeques.
