Starting Fifth in Charlotte, Line Looks for Consistency on Race Day (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]The competition in the Pro Stock Car category is arguably the closest among the NHRA’s four professional classes, with positions and races often decided by thousandths of a second. Such was the case in qualifying for the Carolina Nationals, as the second through twelfth starting spots were separated by 17/1000ths. Therefore, after capturing the fifth starting position for Sunday’s final eliminations at zMAX Dragway with their opening 6.659-second, 207.94 mph run on Friday afternoon, Jason Line and the Summit Racing team kn ew further improvement would be necessary for the KB Racing crew to score a win at their home track.

“We got off to a good start on Friday, with our Summit Racing Pontiac making a decent run that was second quickest for the round, earning two bonus points,” said Line. “Unfortunately, that was our best pass in qualifying, which is not what you want to do. We made it down the track, but were a little bit off each time.

“On a positive note, we have a good starting position for tomorrow. However to take advantage of it, we’ll need to find a way to make good, consistent runs, and I’ll have to do my job behind the wheel. The pieces are in place to get the job done, we just have to find the right way to put them together.”
