Stanfield unhappy with first round loss; Happy to return to sea level racing (1 Viewer)

MORRISON, Colo. – Greg Stanfield couldn’t wait Sunday to put Bandimere Speedway in his rearview mirror following another disappointing first-round loss at the Mile-High Nationals.

“For the last three years,” said the driver of the Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks GXP, “this car has not liked to run here. We thought it would be okay because we tested here earlier, but the car did not respond to anything we did to it.”

Stanfield’s quickest qualifying run of 7.030 seconds at 195.48 mph came on Saturday, putting him 11th in the lineup and up against Jason Line in eliminations. Both drivers recorded their best times of the weekend, but Line was the quickest, 6.991 at 196.30 to Stanfield’s 7.018 at 196.13.

“I am glad to be going back to sea level,” concluded Stanfield, who will be racing at Sonoma, Calif., July 29-31, in the second of three events in the grueling NHRA Western Swing.
