Spencer 0 for 1. A great start

Getting beat on a holeshot! Bet you can count the number of times that has happened on one hand......:)

I'm glad none of you have ever done something really stupid or even offensive for which you were later very sorry. Spencer didn't get away with what happened, he got fired. For a young man living his dream, that's quite a wake-up call. Yes, he got rehired, for whatever reason, and according to all reports is going to anger management and knows he has a target on his back. So, how about giving him a chance and seeing if he really has learn from his mistakes. No one is perfect....unless someone died and made you God, and I doubt that happened.

Quite apart from Drag Racing, Spencer has an opportunity to turn this to the good. I'm hoping he does.

FWIW: I'm a fan of Cory Mac and never warmed to Spencer in "his seat".

With all due respect to you, Spencer put himself in the public eye and as a result he has a resonsibility to behave in an acceptable manner. He failed this responsibility. We have no responsibility to accept or forgive this failure.

I think anyone can tell from all the posts he was not exactly a fan favorite before this incident so he shouldn't expect much forgivness for this behavior. He has a long hard path to earn respect and support and should expect criticism to continue until he proves he's changed from the person we've seen for the last 2 years.

He may be a great guy but he comes across as an egotistical, arrogant jerk. Perhaps he should get some image and public speaking assistance.

I've never rooted or, wished ill against anyone. I'd rather cheer my favorites. That's a LOT more fun.

I hope Spencer is one day blessed with the opportunity to make a difference.

Dang, this is a tough crowd.
How many on here, who are crucifying Massey, actually heard and saw what he supposedly did at the awards banquet?
Don Schumacher has already given his side of the story on the 'mater. Are those same people calling Shoe a liar because of his explanation?
We heard Massey's side on TV.
What more needs to happen?
I can understand rooting against someone. But, whew, don't get so personal.
The season just started.
Y'all need to pace yourselves.

What is seeking help about anger management have to do with him have (if even for one night) a drinking problem and taking a cooler into a black tie event.

I think that if you ask those who are rooting against DSR, and Massey in particular, is that in the statements made by DS and SM, their stories are not in synch with each other. From being fired for taking a cooler where he shouldn't, to anger management classes? That's a stretch.

One other thing I found extremely distasteful was Dons statement that TJjr "no longer physically wanted to do the track test work" and how it hurt his back and he just didn't want to do it any longer. First, IF, and thats a big if, that was the case, it wasn't Schumachers place to tell the world TJ has a bad back. It is Tom's should he choose to do so. He should have simply said "You need to ask Tom" and shut his mouth about the subject.

I will bet you anything, because he has already proven it, TJ would do anything, for any team, for any length of time. Including testing a TF car in the weeks prior to Pomona. I, for one, just don't believe that Jr has such a bad back that he can't, or rather won't as Shumacher implied, do anything but drive a car for a team.

Anger managment? A Top Fuel driver? really?

Too bad they didn't have anger managment in the 70's Paul Candies coulda sent Tharp.

I believe Don told the truth about funding the car from his pocket..but I also believe some additional undisclosed funding came from somewhere that enabled Don to fund the car and perhaps there were strings attached to the funds that encouraged Don to reevaluate Spencer's termination.

In other words what we heard is the certainly the truth but perhaps not the whole story. I'm only saying Don is first and formost a business man and as such only said what he felt needed to be revealed.

The very reasons I never liked such drivers as Bazemore, Toliver, T. Pedregon, et al, that came in loudly proclaiming they were going to blow John Force off the track and threw tantrums when they didn't.

But I forgave them (mostly) and enjoyed watching them run....Massey gets a second chance

Gee, I didn't know that just because you have a camera shoved in your face means you are never allowed to make mistakes, or that you always have to behave like a member of the royal family.

Are you sure you're not talking about a guy that used to drive a funny car, then a TF car and is now posting his photography on a drag racing news magazine? :D

Just FYI. the public persona of Bazemore on camera either in the heat of competition or with a mic in his face in the pits is very different than talking to him away from the track or one on one at the track. He is usually very cordial and accomadating as long as you show some courtesy.

I never really root against another driver (unless I'm in the other lane) but I won't say I was disappointed when he lost.

I must admit that I didn't follow the points chase deal last year, but something just dawned on me.

Spencer finished third in points correct?

When Bernstein beat Schumacher in the final, what effect did this have on Spencer's final position? At that point it was down to Antron and Tony yeah?

Why would he be so bent out of shape with Antron at the banquet?
