SONY nav-u Navigation System is the Official Navigation System of Jim Dunn Racing and the CANIDAE Pet Foods Chevrolet Funny Car

CHICAGO, June 5, 2008 - Jim Dunn Racing is pleased to announce that the SONY® nav-u™ navigation system will be the Official Navigation System of the CANIDAE Pet Foods Chevrolet Funny Car team for the remainder of the 2008 NHRA POWERade season. To mark this announcement, Jim Dunn Racing built a special edition race car featuring the Sony nav-u brand and new associate sponsors Radio Shack, Sears and ABT Electronics. The special edition race car will make its debut at the upcoming Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 Nationals on June 5 - 8 Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill. During race weekend at Joliet, the Jim Dunn Racing team will host more than 50 VIP guests and dealers of the Sony nav-u system at its pit-side hospitality area.

"We're proud to have a premier, internationally recognized company like Sony and its nav-u brand join our team for the remainder of the season," said team owner Jim Dunn. "We've come up with a great looking race car for the fans in Chicago, and we're looking forward to putting on a good show for Midwest dealers of Sony's nav-u system."

The Sony nav-u in-car portable satellite system contains features that drivers have come to expect from Sony, such as text-to-speech voice commands and real-time-traffic capability (subscription required and sold separately). The nav-u system boasts an ultra slim design and a large touch-screen display that is easy to use and helps you keep your eyes on the road. The Sony nav-u portable satellite navigation system is the perfect companion for that cross-country trip or short ride across town.

"There are synergies between the fan base of the NHRA POWERade series and Sony mobile electronics customers including quality and a passion for cars," said Mike Khan, director of marketing for mobile electronics in the Digital Imaging and Audio Division at Sony Electronics. "Jim Dunn Racing shares these values, so the affiliation between the nav-u system and their team is a natural fit."

Jim Dunn is one of the original pioneers of NHRA Drag Racing. He began his career as a competitor in 1950 when the popularity of the sport was starting to take hold on local strips throughout Southern California. Over the years, the acclaimed driver/crew chief/team owner has accumulated numerous wins and performance records including a victory at the 1972 Supernationals in Ontario, Calif., the 1981 World Finals in Irvine, Calif., and he was runner-up at the 1981 U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

Since retiring from driving in 1990, Dunn's career has continued to flourish as a respected crew chief, technical advisor and car owner. He wrenched cars to numerous victories throughout the '90s including the 1997 Big Bud Shootout in Indianapolis, the 1998 Pontiac Excitement Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, and the 1999 U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis. More recently in 2005 (with Bartone behind the wheel), the Jim Dunn Racing nitro-powered Chevrolet advanced to the finals at the Summit Racing Nationals in Las Vegas and earned a No. 1 qualifying award at Englishtown (N.J.).
