I just saw this video.....I know there is a first time for everyone at the racetrack....But you gotta feel for this guy!!!!!! Listen to the announcer!!!LMAO!!!!
You just KNEW that was coming when the reverse lights stayed on. It's a good thing there didn't appear to be anyone behind him.
I gotta feel for the Firebird driver. I remember the first time I lined up at a drag strip (Grudge night, Fremont Raceway, summer of 1971) my throat was dry and I was nervous as hell I was gonna screw up. I did OK, but I remember the feeling well, to this day.
I remember one year at Indy back in the 80's during Pro Stock Qualifying. I believe it was Don Coonce who forgot to take the car out of reverse before doing a dry hop. Dropped the clutch and launched the car backwards. Luckily no one was hurt.
