Does anyone have a video of the run between John and Courtney? From where I was standing and watching the replay on the big screen it looked like Courtney dropped a cylinder and lifted and then got back in it for a split second. John deserved the win and he got it.

For those who have said John was over the hill I would say he really did go over the hill with his win.

If you saw it Eugene then I have to believe it.

I'd check YouTube but it IS available on AllAccess at 1:54:30 - I thought Courtney hesitated for just a blink but (stopping the action) she never opened the blades again. The flames seemed (to me) normal - certainly no obvious wet pipe spewing.
'Coulda sworn the announcer said Court was "slightly" ahead at the eighth.
All Zapreuder film analysis aside, I was happy to see John hoist the trophy at the end of the day.

Don't take my word for it I was so tired on Sun that I might have been seeing aliens running down the track.:) But, I would like to see a replay of that run in slow mo. I remember thinking to myself that she did a good job of getting off the throttle before it had the chance to blow up. There were a lot of cars dropping cylinders at Denver "that I know for sure".:)

In fairness Bob Orme -on the Summit Drag round-by-round report said>>Courtney made a move toward the wall and she lifted. John drove away for the win. He's going to his 3rd final this year, looking for his 1st win this year. It will be his 251st final round. <<<<
I just viewed it again - she WAS veering toward the wall ('tho there was no OBVIOUS wet pipe) - If she was running someone else...would she stay with it? I have no idea... Enough conspiracies for one thread....I'm happy for John (though if it's close at the end and my guy Wilk JUST misses the countdown, I reserve the right to revisit the conspiracy with much more conviction<G>).

I was looking for dropped cylinders too and didn't see any. That doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't happening. If Courtney was going to take a dive for her dad, intentionally moving toward the wall would not be the way to do it when you consider how beat up and bruised she got when she slapped the wall hard last year.

When are you going to be back to BP for real drag racing?

John Force is a tough old dude. In one of those incidents earlier this year, he separated his shoulder and detached his collar bone. Has been driving with pain since.

I will say the same thing I said when all of the folks on this board were screaming for WJ to retire. This is America, it's his money and he has earned the right, more than anyone in drag racing history to do whatever the hell he wants. If John wants to be like the Greek and run until he is well passed 80, by God I will buy a ticket to watch.

We have gotten real comfortable in the digital/internet/social media age with telling people what to do, especially when we don't know any of the people or their situation or any pertinent specifics really. I would have loved to have seen ANYONE try to tell either one of my Grandfathers what to do from the sidelines back in the day. They would have gotten slapped silly. But folks back then wouldn't have been going around telling people what to do either ... ESPECIALLY when it had nothing to do with them.

Her car did look a little upset and I would say there is probably less incentive to pedal when racing a teammate, which I don't see why that would be an issue.

Why does everyone automatically assume his competitor took a dive when he beats another JFR car? Yall hate him that much?

I don't think anyone hates him, and not to drag up old arguments, but there has been some instances of not-so-subtle diving in the JFR camp. Just sayin'.
Nonetheless, John is a one of kind guy who has been at it so long he can will one of these beasts down the track!

I thought the Fox coverage could have shown some better angels of that run. The full speed was all over the place and each replay was impossible to catch if there was a hole out.
I'm sure it was the Russians...

John had the best funny car reaction time at Sonoma!
