While I have little doubt that Phillips has run into racism in his racing career, and he's probably got some ugly stories to tell, this sure seems like a racing rivalry not a color one. Phillips seems to want to make it about race when it's just not clear it is.
The clearest way for Phillips to make his point is to win some rounds/races. Not shoot off his mouth. Last time I checked, there was no "race" checkbox on the timing system...

I guess when you are sponsored by a Sheik, there is no way someone should be able to show up with their motorcycle in the back of a pick up truck and then out run you.
Hell, we outrun the Sheikmobile on 1/2 track speed in Atlanta and we run this thing out of a 3 bay garage...we must be cheatin' too.

I recall Phillips giving Hines an unnecessary starting line "stare down" in the finals also. The guy seemed to me (at least on Sunday) that he had to have some kinda attitude with everyone . All the arrogant and assertive antics after each round win did nothing to make me a fan.

I can't speak to a lot of the stuff in that article but I have seen several situations where Michael has gotten mad at different riders on the starting line and then made gestures to them after the race. Reminds me a bit of WJ when he used to get mad at guys like Dave Connelly for getting in a staging duel. If Michael feels Matt is going to play games on the line, make Matt stage first. Then he won't get held up. If neither guy stages, then we get to see Rick Stewart go crazy! A good controversy (like WJ vs the Fuel drivers) can be a lot of fun but when it escalates to racism and cheating charges, that's unfortunate and not good for anyone.

Anytime you are from the south and you get into an arguement or dicussion with someone you 9 times out of 10 get called a racist.... i got called one in Indy one year when i mentioned that the sweet tea wasn't as good as i was use to could they bring me a coke....and the waitress who happened to be of color decidied i was a dumb redneck racist.....lol..... told her dumb and redneck i couldn't argue with but the latter of the three was a different issue....lol
EXACTLY, that must really piss Matt off! Unless you have 100% proof, you do not call someone out and say they are a cheater! No class in that at all.

This kind of stuff is disappointing at best. When you can let the results of your racing speak for you, there's no need to spend any time on Total Drama Island.

Phillips has a huge chip on his shoulder...I don't care what color he is, or if he is cheating or not...he has a ****ty attitude and is a horrible sportsman. Plus, he sounds pretty ignorant in that story. Just shut up and race....

I'm totally stunned/amazed that it took till Wednesday for this to hit Mater.
Didn't anyone catch Michael's top end interview Sunday? He made it pretty darn clear that he thinks that Matt is a racist.

in fact I was going to bring it up but I thought I might have misunderstood what Micheal said. Guess I didnt. My feeling about it is-- its great Micheal is doing well and he should just keep trying to win races and let that speak for itself. What he is doing by spouting off this way is degrading his achievements. JMO
