[coverattach=1]SimplexGrinnell and Jones Brown support PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series Safety Initiative

Fire protection and insurance support an important part of 2009 Tour

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 3, 2009) – The Pro Modified Racing Association and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series are pleased to announce the support and involvement of two leaders in the fire protection and insurance industry, which is part of the Series’ mandate to ensure safe racing.

This is the latest, and one of the most important, steps by the PMRA and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series to ensure its racers and teams are competing in as safe as an environment as possible.

One of the major players in fire and safety equipment field, SimplexGrinnell will be providing all the necessary fire suppression items at each race events.

Also providing support will be Jones Brown Insurance, Canada’s only dedicated motorsports insurance provider.

"The safety of our fans, drivers and crew members is a critical priority to the PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series," explained Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations. "SimplexGrinnell and Jones Brown are dedicated to safety and will play a leadership role with our Safety Initiative to help reduce the risk factors and increase safety awareness in our sport."

Fans enjoy the sights and sounds of the popular Pro Modifieds, but as with all racing, there is an element of danger, and this involvement from SimplexGrinnell and Jones Brown gives the teams extra piece of mind when running down the track at over 230 mph.

“The Pro Modified class is one of drag racing’s most exciting and volatile classes and safety is a key element to our sport,” explained Jim Salemi of G-Force Race Cars. “The cars are constructed under strict technical and safety regulations provided by our sanctioning organizations. But to be a leader in our sport you need to run on the edge to be competitive and that can be dangerous. “These cars make hundreds of runs down the race track,” Salemi continued. “It only takes one time for something to go wrong and you can be in trouble fast. It makes me feel better to have companies like SimplexGrinnell and Jones Brown supporting our series.”

While racers in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series may not travel quite as fast as the PMRA Pro Modifieds, the risk is just as great for the drivers.

"This is exciting news," said Peter Hyde, owner of the Hyde Racing Top Dragster, which competes in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series. "It's great to be associated with the industry leaders in fire and event protection. We look forward to them joining forces with the PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series.”

As a long-time driver in several classes of cars, Scott Wildgust has raced in the PMRA, and is currently driving a 1957 Chevy in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series. He applauds the new involvement.

"When it comes to safety there is no excuse for not having the best equipment, said Wildgust. “Racers competing in the PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series can rest assured that full dedication to safety and their well being is priority one in our series."
