That was about the best broadcast I can remember in recent memory. ESPN and NHRA did a bang up job getting the race concluded and televised!

IMO that was the best race coverage since the old Diamond P days, way to go ESPN. Hope the rest of the year is as good!!

I thought the coverage was fantastic. It had a real buzz and excitement to it. Profiling what the teams do immediately after a car goes down the track was neat also. Way to go ESPN for going live with the broadcast!

My kudos to ESPN have been sent.

Jim

Thanks for the nice comments. I will high five everyone when I see them at Reading. It was a fun broadcast to work and the thing I did at the finish line for the show open was awesome, but i don't know if I would stand that close again. We kind of pushed our luck shooting it five different times and thankfully nothing happened. But at 300 mph+ when those cars go by you and you're just a few feet away, it almost takes your breath away!

I had to DVR the race so I missed the end :(

it was a marked improvement...

but I'm still not a fan of running interviews during staging (or worse during the race) and the little stat boxes and such still take up way too much space on the screen...I'm trying to watch race cars, I'm not that interested in who won how many 1st rounds against opponents that qualified in the top half of the field the last 3 races or any of that other minutia someone in ESPNland assumes is interesting

Great show!! And the piece at the end of the track with Kernan at the finish line was GOLD! Kudo's to all involved.

John, please be sure to pass on our praise. Easily the best show ESPN has ever done on drag racing. Congrats to all.

That piece at the top of the show was perfect. Watching you get "blown away" was truly amazing. You and the producers should all get raises :)

Thanks again. I don't care about a raise. All I want is to be out there every week that they're racing. Chicago is fun, but covering the cubs and the white sox pales in comparison to what is going on week end and week out in the NHRA!

There were no changes in the people who produce the show. I will let everyone know that y'all were pleased with the show. It was a fun show to work, even though it was a very long day! I think I got maybe 3 hours of sleep before I had to head to the airport to come home this morning.

Y'all take care and if I don't see you in Joliet, I'll see you at Reading! Looking forward to it!
