Team Schumacher just proved all things equal....Tony makes the difference.
All you Schumacher haters please sound off.

Anybody else think Corys a lot pissed about his light in the Final? Shuler and Okuhara gave him a better car in the Final than Green gave Shoe.

are you kidding me? so in your opinion, tony shumacher makes things equal against alan johnson and larry dixon??? thats a big statement against alan and larry. time will tell, all the dsr fans can celebrate yes, but jack, what did you have to say after gainesville when larry won? my money is still on alan johnson when the smoke clears.

"Here!" :D

Hey man, but really....you know the addage..."any given Sunday".... that was kind of neat - we all knew those 2 would face off sooner or later. Certainly won't be the last time, either. I gotta be honest though - I was rootin for Shoe.....

Mike Green has been around along time, and has been to the winners circle scores of times in Top Fuel. His involvement with Gary Ormsby 1989, Snake, with Alan, etc. uniquely qualify him for the position he currently holds. Don knows how to run these deals, and he knew what he was doing when he put Green in charge of the Army digger. Today's results are not surprising to me as Don and Mike Green know what their doing and know how to get the thing down the track and walk off with the Wally, its just what they do!

Nice to see the new team getting into DSR winning stride again.

Put yourself in Tony's place

Imagine before you strap in the car. Looking over and seeing the entire team you had for the last 10 years.

Knowing they are trying to beat you.

That would be a tough spot to be in . He seems to have a good attitude toward them.

Talk about pressure.

They are both the two best drivers. This will be a dog fight all year.

This win was impressive from Tony's point of view.

Talk about a great moment.

It will be fun to see them as the year goes on. I am friends with both Larry and Tony. They are both professional and respect each other. A great rivalry without the nastiness that some rivalries have.

Who knows how it will turn out.

There were some that thought Tony could not win without AJ.

Some thought AJ could not win without Tony + DSR.

They have BOTH proved they find the winners circle with their new teams.
And it's only race #4.

I'm happy for them both.:cool:

Exactly. Top Fuel will be interesting for the first time in years :)

It doesn't hurt to have AJ's log book!

A great win for Schumacher and the Army team!!! Looks like TF will be a lot closer then last year!

I am neutral on this matter, but i do think this could be the beginning of a honest to God rivalry. But i dont think Tony put am exclamation point today...it was more of a comma, with more thoughts to come with this potential rivalry.
What is even more interesting is that i think Don & Tony may be taking this 'rivalry' more serious than AJ and Larry. Kind of like Hot Rod took his 'rivalry' more seriously than Tony did.
Is the army boot on the other foot now?

Personally, I was rooting for LD to make it 2 straight. But, I have to say "Sarge" had a superior light and Mike Green had a good setup. I'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunities for AJ, LD, and McCulloch to avenge this one. This should be a fun rivalry to watch.

I'm obviously a huge Dixon fan and was really rooting for him against Shoe, but Tony was the better driver during that particular race, so my hat's off to him. I'll give credit where credit is due. However, I don't consider it as much an exclamation point as I do a question mark. If Tony comes out ahead in points in November, THEN I'll consider it an exclamation point. Until then, Shoe is still a question mark to me. My money is on Larry and Alan though.

I was also going to say that Larry was uncharacteristically late, but I'm not so sure that's true so far this year. Since the NHRA changed the timing of the tree, he's struggled a few times with his RT. I'm sure he'll remedy that though. He's too good of a driver not to.

Congrats to Tony though. He earned that one.

Now with this win I hope the Mike Green bashing can stop.

Congrats to Tony and the crew.

Only a championship as a Crew Chief will make it stop.
Winning a race or 2 won't! ;)
The Al-Anabi team wasn't out performed they were out driven and I take my hat off to Tony he did an excellent job today.

The Schumacher/Dixon rivalry has supposedly started, BUT, can you imagine the interest when Dixon and Massey face each other?

a honest to God rivalry.

I hope so, and even if the teams won't admit it, I am sure it is. Too bad neither of the drivers are a Whit Bazemore, or maybe Al Hofmann type personality who might make it even more interesting by speaking without a filter on. IMO things were getting boring last year.

More IMO... theres something about someone coming to the sport and buying up the best of the best and putting them together that rubs me the wrong way. Like it or hate it, they have the salary cap in the NHL to prevent big money teams from dominating, which at least tells me the concept of a salary cap should work. Maybe thats not how it works in the NHRA (proven by Schumacher winning yesterday) but I think that through the course of the season, Dixon will come to dominate as Schumacher did last year. (Not to mention I think AJ is a beast.. the best in the business)

Great that they are sinking their money into the NHRA, and it is definately making things more interesting, but I wanted Schumacher to win, just because I (even though I may be wrong) consider him the underdog.
