LAS VEGAS (Nov. 1, 2008) – Schumacher Electric Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle riders Chip Ellis and Craig Treble qualified fourth and ninth, respectively, today for the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the penultimate race of the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

Ellis has qualified in the top half of the field at all 16 Pro Stock Motorcycle races so far this season, posting a 7.042-second elapsed time at 187.05 mph. Treble, coming off his win at the last event in Memphis, recorded a 7.101/184.88 pass.

CHIP ELLIS, Schumacher Electric/XXX Racing Fuels Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle: In addition to Ellis’ 7.042-second ET from the first session Saturday, the Florida native made runs of 7.071/187.96 (No. 5), 7.092/182.72 (No. 7) and 7.066/187.05 (No. 4).

“I think as a team we did a good job so far this weekend,” said Ellis, who has qualified at all 66 NHRA national events he has entered and is No. 7 in the Countdown to 1 playoffs standings, with this weekend's event and the Pomona, Calif., event Nov. 16, remaining in the season. “Both Schumacher Electric Suzukis are running good and I’m ready to go for tomorrow. I like this race track. I’ve had a lot of success here and, thanks to Schumacher Electric and XXX Racing Fuels, we’re just going to go out there and have a good time.

“Crew chief Steve Tartaglia is doing a good job getting our bike down the track. We ran very consistent during qualifying. We were within a couple hundredths of a second on all four runs, so we’ve got a good handle on the tune-up. Steve is doing an awesome job as always and I’m just looking forward to racing tomorrow.”

Ellis will have lane choice over Angie McBride in round one of eliminations.

<img src="http://www.nitromater.com/gallery/files/5/c_treble.jpg" alt="c_treble" align="right"borders="0"/> CRAIG TREBLE, Schumacher Electric/Albrecht's Fast Track Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle: The engine on the Schumacher Electric Suzuki failed on Treble's first run Friday, slowing him to 7.552/140.80 (No. 18). He went on to make runs of 7.114/178.87 (No. 11), a 7.280/185.00 (No. 11) and finally the 7.101/184.88 (No. 9).

“Let me tell you, it’s been a rough qualifying session,” said Treble, who is No. 8 in the Countdown to 1 playoffs standings. “The engine blew up on the first hit on Friday and then this morning I backed out of the starting line beams, which was a total rookie error, and slowed up my elapsed time on that run (7.280). The 7.10 on the last run was pretty fair and I was happy with that run, but I know that there is more in this bike.

“Steve Tartaglia will get it figured out and hopefully I can do my job tomorrow on the tree and we can get a couple of round wins for Albrecht’s Fast Track and Don Schumacher Racing. It’s been a rough qualifying session and hopefully we’ll get that monkey off our back. This track has been good to me in the past, so we’ll just keep on trying to earn round wins and try and make it two wins in a row.”

Treble will square off against Andrew Hines in round one of eliminations on Sunday.
