Newsflash for you Mr. Charlet...... everything on these boards is someone elses business. Mr. Scelzi made, apparently, more than one comment Sunday on a nationally televised program. I mentioned it here, on an open forum, as I was surprised it hadnt been discussed by the following Tuesday afternoon. At which time it went slightly off track and became a discussion of events a year or more old, not pertaining to the driver I mentioned, albeit in an almost slightly similar situation, and those mens employer.
You replied in a manner that projected that it was improper to discuss it. However in Mr. Schumachers post on this thread (after your post) he didnt appear to take offense, in fact he seemed mildly amused by this discussion.
I mean you no disrespect Tim, however I see a trend here and on other boards that I frequent where some members take it upon themselves to decide the suitability of a subject for discussion.
Scott:
Your response to my post was very well thought out and well written. I take you as a person who understands the sport, but is very diplomatic in their response. So, that being said, allow me to retort....
First off, It is not my JOB or DUTY to decide what people talk about on PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARDS. It's your right to discuss anything you'd like. However, there is also personal opinion as well, and my personal opinion is that I don't feel that discussing the personal issues between Gary Scelzi and Don Schumacher are our business. I see it too often in life in general and on boards like this, that people take the personal business of professional teams and interject their own opinions about what should be done without the factual knowledge of what is actually happening. I have gone thru this personally over the past 3 weeks since I've left my previous employer. I have received about 100 phone calls and emails from former co workers asking me if I "DID" the things that they are discussing over there..(RUMOR) None of which are true...It's amazing how quick things can get out of hand, so perhaps I'm a bit sensitive to discussions like this in the first place.
It starts with:
1) Did you hear what Gary said on NHRA'S ESPN2 broadcast about being "PERMITTED" to finish the season behind the wheel of the Mopar/Oakley Funny Car...to...
2) I HEARD THAT GARY IS NOT GONNA DRIVE FOR DON BECAUSE SCHU WANTS TO GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE TO GET SOME SEAT TIME BEFORE NEXT YEAR...(just an example...don't take literally)..to...
3) OUT RIGHT RUMOR AND LIES!!! Which can be considered slander in some cases.
We all have the right to our own opinion about things. My own is that what happens in the matter of contracts and employment of people over there is their business.
- Does it effect me directly??? NO....
- Am I going to lose anything finantially if Gary does not finish the year... NOT ME...I will be sad to see a peer and mentor of mine not finish the racing season behind the wheel, but I also see this as an opportunity for somebody else to get a chance to drive.
So, discuss it if you'd like, but JUST MY OPINION, I don't feel that it's our business to speculate on why or how Gary Scelzi is going to finish his time with DSR. As far as Mr. Schumacher's "FEELINGS" about this, I am certain he is getting a good laugh about the discussion...(he does laugh you know)
I don't take any offense to your response to my post. That's your opinion, I respect it, and it was not my intention to slam your post. If you took offense, I am sorry.
