So we now have another track for a Division 7 Points Meet at Salt Lake City. The race is scheduled for late in the 2013 season. NHRA's logic is they can get the cars from the SLC area and those coming from the mid-west and east coast on their way to Pomona Finals.
WHAT ABOUT THE DIVISION 7 RACERS. FROM THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA IT IS 600 MILES TO SLC. JUST TO RUN THE POINTS MEETS IN DIV 7 YOU ALREADY HAVE TO TRAVEL A LOT OF MILES PLUS IF YOU ARE WORKING TAKE QUITE A BIT OF TIME OFF.

Just proves that the non-racing, non-sportsman racer oriented NHRA upper management in Glendora is continuing to make real dumb decisions (Read: don't care about sportman racing or what it costs). Not going to have very many Div 7 cars there.

It is just as far from West Valley, UT to Southern, CA as it is from Southern, CA to West Valley, UT.

True, but since SoCal has no operating drag strips  what does it matter? The nearest Divisional track from San Diego is Bakersfield (when they run there), which is more central Cali than southern.

. . . .and we hear, no Top Alcohol at the "divisional" in SLC.
The quickest and fastest quarter mile cars in the NHRA are Top Alcohol cars.
I hope SLC management recognizes that and includes the best competition available.
Cheers,
Ed

As my home track.... We'er Doomed! RMR in West Valley City, has always been located to the center of nowhere, when it comes to dragracing. Boise @ 395 mi. Las Vegas @ 380 mi. Grand Junction @ 360 mi.
Oh well, we enjoy our little 1/4 mile! Who needs anything else?

Uh, do you think NHRA management deliberately has made the situation where there are so few tracks left in Division 7?
