Howard just invited me and the kiddo up to Vegas on 14 Aug for Emmett's 14th birthday celebration- had a great time watching the guys do sound check, and enjoyed watching the show from the mix position. And Herns make a MEAN Mai-Tai :D...

Great show- loved seeing Moving Pictures done as a whole, especially Witch Hunt (saw that originally done on the '81 tour), and playing dualing air drums with the kid during YYZ.
Just talked to Howard and they are on their way to South America to wind up this run- probably more dates added in the new year. DEFINIATELY a great way to enjoy 3 hours of your day!!

I caught the movie. I found the hunting lodge dinner scene to be hilarious.

If you want an more in depth look at what happened to Neil, read the book

Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road.

Interesting read.

Just received my 2112 and Moving Pictures Classic Albums DVD. If you
don't know this already, VH1 did a Classic Albums shows on 2112 and
Moving Pictures. What I have is a DVD of these two shows. In depth
interviews of what happened in the studio for these albums. Pretty cool.

Who do you think would be better technically, Tom? Being a drummer..I know of no one that is better technically. (unless you want to count my teacher in 9th grade..he was a bad man).

A little Buddy Rich tribute:

YouTube - Neil Peart (Buddy Rich Memorial Concert)

Before I go further, let me state that Neil is my favorite drummer.

Also, a disclaimer. I can play drums but not that great. I mean, terribly.
I just got into following drumming and talking to drummers and learning
about the craft because I was inspired by Neil. In more ways than just
drumming, but that is another topic.

I've seen Neil's Buddy Rich tribute. I think Neil is the one who organized it.
Speaking of jazz, you should check out Joe Morello if you haven't already.

As for technically better... well, Bill Bruford is pretty insane. Mike Portnoy
is, too, but I don't like Portnoy or Dream Theater -- it's too masturbatory. I
like Danny Carey a lot. Tomas Haake, the drummer for Meshuggah, is pretty
d*mn insane. Stewart Copeland is pretty interesting. As you may notice,
I have eclectic tastes. Matt Cameron comes to mind, too.

Maybe "better" is not the right phrase. All of the drummers I like are good
but in different ways.

Anyway, happy drumming! May you learn the insane sticking patterns of
one Neil Ellwood Peart.

Woo, hoo! Got my tickets this morning to the show on April 1 in Greensboro, NC. Floor seats, 17th row. Merry Christmas to me! :)

This better not be an April Fools joke.

Score!

You're lucky man, they aren't playing anywhere in New England in 2011. The nearest place to me that they'll play is Madison Square Garden.

Well, I called it. No Rush concert on Friday, April 1. No big deal, it was just put off until Saturday. :D What an outstanding show. 3 hours from beginning to end, including about a 20 minute intermission because as Geddy said, "We're old guys, we need a break!" This show was excellent in every way, lighting, sound, playing, you name it. Hope I get another chance to see them sometime.

Did they play anything different on this leg of the tour? I am hoping they pull one out of the vault, like Cygnus X-1 or Circumstances
